  • Great Quality and Operation
I own quite a few of the DeWalt Tstak products and the Craftsman Tradestack is heavier-duty and more spacious than any of those. The drawers are bigger and deeper and open and lock back smoothly without issues. Compared to metal boxes, the composition of this box is great because you get the durability of a metal drawer toolbox, but in plastic, so it's much lighter and easier to transport. I see people offering an adapter plate that's 3D printed so I could lock this onto my DeWalt boxes, but I am using this for low voltage, automotive type connectors and just want to keep it separate out in my shop, so I don't really need that capability. I just like that it's lighter and a lot more portable than a metal box so I can take it out to where I'm working in the vehicles or golf cart, but it's still a durable box. I also like that the drawers open with depressing the latch under the handle (which is a natural action) and lock just by closing them, so you don't have to worry about forgetting and having the drawers slide out and spilling the contents when you go to pick it up and move it. The drawer unit is great for applications where you have many small parts that you don't want to have to dig through a stack of assortment boxes or take everything out to find what you need and with the drawers you can have multiple layers and keep everything organized the way you like it and easy to access as well. Price-wise, it's hard to make a direct comparison to anything else available, but it's only slightly more than the standard metal drawer toolboxes that are heavy, rattling, drawers that don't work smoothly and aren't as deep (front to back) as the Craftsman Tradestack is. Plus, you don't have to worry about the Tradestack rusting out, getting bent up or the paint coming off. The closest thing is the Dewalt Tough System and the Craftsman version beats them on price for a similar 3-drawer unit, so in that regard, I give Tradestack the advantage, especially if you're planning on buying multiple units and the difference would really add up to something substantial $$$. All in all, I give this toolbox a 5- star rating and I will continue to use it and revise my review if I encounter any issues with it going forward. *** The only mystery about this box is why the top has a metal pin/hinge like the top lid is supposed to open, but there is no clear way to do so. Maybe it's just so they can use the same components in all of their boxes and this one is just a “dummy” lid when it's used on the drawer unit? ... show more

  • A hefty and versatile 3 drawer case; one part of the Tradestack series
This case is part of the Craftsman Tradestack series, that allows the easy stacking/locking together of units such as this set of drawers and a large tool tub, etc. Just put one container on top of the other, and they lock together. Push the red release button, and you can separate them. I do not currently have a second unit to try out this feature, but I am very likely to in the future. This is not like stacking tool carts that I have from other companies - the plastic used is strong and stiff instead of thin and flexible. A drawer is opened by pushing up on a tab under the handle on the drawer to unlock it. Pushing the drawer closed locks it in place. The drawers open most of the way, and smoothly. They are spacious enough for the screws and screwdriver kits I’ve put in them. There are indents in the drawer floor that look like they are meant to hold containers, and tabs that look like they are meant to hold dividers. The top of it is flat rather than sloped, and sturdy enough to rest plenty of tools on. This is a good storage solution. With the addition of the available cart, I could build a mobile storage unit that meets all of my needs. For now, I am using it in my office/workroom for screws and drivers. ... show more

  • Heavy duty
The Craftsman 3 drawer tool box is very sturdy. The drawers glide easily and latch securely in place when closed. Each drawer is only about 2 inches deep so you won't be storing power tools in there like the advertisement states. The handle on top easily clicks into the open position and has a rubberized coating for a secure grip. The box by itself is quite heavy and when loaded with tools it's impossible for me to pick up so this is not a good option if you are looking for a portable tool box. The area between the drawers and the top of the box seems like a lot of wasted space; perhaps it's necessary for the locking function should you decide to stack these units together but I wish it hinged and opened up so I could use that space. The drawers have little notches around the perimeter to hold divider slats but there were no slats included with the box, which was very disappointing. ... show more

  • Wonderful toolbox!
I have similar DeWalt stacking toolboxes, and without a doubt, these are superior. They feel incredibly sturdy yet remain surprisingly lightweight. The drawers are spacious, versatile, and stay securely closed. They hold a ton and make organizing a breeze. It’s a permanent fixture on my workbench—but it’s light and portable enough to take on the road if needed. I absolutely love this toolbox! ... show more

  • Super heavy duty
This is great just on the work bench but of course the whole design of this is having the ability to stack and lock onto other units. The drawers slide out easily and the metal rails hold plenty of weight without any issues. The inside of the drawers have little patterns and notches in them which makes me believe that Craftsman probably makes little organizing bins that fit inside of the drawers. I'll have to look for them or dividers for better organization. The drawers also appear to have divider slots but didn't come with any. Even though I knew the dimensions this is bigger than what I was visualizing, which is good for my needs. This would also be great in the back of the truck. You don't have to worry about the drawers sliding open if it gets bounced around in a vehicle as the drawers lock shut. The only areas of improvement that I see is that the top appears to be hinged but it doesn't open so the space above the top drawer is not accessible. I'm assuming the top is the same part that they probably use on a different product that is non stackable and this one doesn't open because of the stackable nature. The only other thing is the drawer dividers. Would've been nice to get a few of those. All in all though this is a great box and can organize tools or parts for several different types of trades. ... show more
