The upper and lower portions include the black foam for the drawers, but this middle section doesn't include them.

    • Poor quality, not the Craftsman build they used to be
The toolbox packing arrived with no signs of external damage, so this did not happen in shipping. The rod that attaches to the lock had fallen off inside the top drawer and the drawers were locked shut. This can only come apart if the lock is removed, so it happened while being assembled. The top rear was dented and it appears to have been dropped as the front top left has a buckle in it. Once I was able to get the locking mechanism in the rear to release, I discovered the one drawer slide was only attached at one point, they never finished building it,which I should have first realized with the missing Craftsman label from the front. I thought maybe it was inside and the buyer has to install it. Nope! The bottom drawer does not close very well and it has to firmly pushed to close fully. I have looked for this middle toolbox to match my other two in my rollway set. Very disappointed in the lack of quality. My advice is be careful if you wish to purchase one of these, perhaps look at another brand that puts quality first. My next toolbox purchase will not be this brand, I am reluctantly switching to another brand, after this experience. ... show more

    • A nice addition but not so stackable
My original toolbox was just too overfilled, so I decided to look for a solution. I thought I would be able to stack this in the middle of my craftsman top and bottom, but the depth of this box isn’t the same. The depth of my top box is 16 inches Where has the depth of this box is 12 inches. I ended up using this unit on a shelf instead of underneath a deeper craftsman top box. Nevertheless, it is still a nice unit. I have no complaints about the thickness of material or operation of the doors. It is a quality piece, but wish it was 16 inches deep. ... show more

    • What's with the drawers? Why?
I was apprehensive about ordering this tool chest after reading the reviews on here. I was concerned it would arrive with damage, but as far as I can see it made the trip from Wisconsin to California unscathed. Only minor blemish was glue from sealing the packing box flaps had dripped on to the top surface of the chest. Took alcohol and elbow grease to remove, but at least it came off with no sign of marking the paint. Same story with getting all the sticker off the chest… why are they even put on there? Biggest complaint I have so far is the stiffness of the draws when pulling them open. First time with no tools in the chest I almost pulled the thing off the shelf! Why do you need soft close draws (which I think is the cause of the problem) on a tool chest that is going to be used in a workshop or garage? Never had a problem with my old Craftsman tool chest and draws slamming. I’m going to look into removing the soft close mechanism when I get a chance… there has to be a way. Second mild complaint is why the slight color change from the historical color? It’s different enough to be annoying. I’ve had to deal with powder coating and color matching in my job, and it really should not have been a problem matching the color to the traditional red. Also the handles on the draws are much larger than my old matching boxes… again, why? I find it odd that you cannot find this chest on the Craftsman website, I suspect it is either discontinued and these are from old stock, or they are being made under license from some sub-tier vendor of Craftsman, which might explain the quality and changes in design/color etc.. It does what it is built for, and I will fill it up with tools and will forget about it until I need those tools when working on a project in the garage. Now if someone can tell me how to remove those pesky soft close mechanisms! ... show more

Love the look and it fits perfectly where I needed it. It came sooner than I expected and in perfect condition. I didn't realize that the drawers were auto close, very cool! I'm hoping my bottom box will support the added weight but that's not a problem at all. I love the added storage and it will work better than expected. I think the comment about wanting the metal to be thicker is unfounded as it's the same as the top box. Perfect addition to my work assets. ... show more

    • Great product but had shipping issues due to size.
Product was great but was shipped USPS, so I had to go the the local post office and pick it up (due to size and heavy, the local delivery person couldn’t fit it in her car). Needs to be shipped FedEx or UPS
