This is meant to be stationary on hard ground. I have it mounted in my truck. The black versions always failed after 12-18 months. I think this one has been there about 2 years with the same load in it.

I am very happy with this tool chest. Not planning on moving it so will be disconnecting the drawer lock. Made so the drawers will not opened until the lid is opened. This would be useful if you are planning on carrying it around in you vehicle. Drawers open very easily. Great value for the $

    • Buyer Beware...Not the Correct Measurements!
Do not buy this product if you expect to receive a "real" CRAFTSMAN toolbox. Although the width and height may be correct, the depth is only 12 inches as opposed to "real" toolbox which is 16 inches in depth (check the CRAFTSMAN website). I didn't notice the depth disparity until after I ordered the item. I couldn't cancel the order and although the seller accepted my return I was charged a 20% restocking fee ($58.26). Unacceptable!     • CRAFTSMAN IS JUST A NAME NOW
I have the same style box made in the 1980s and it is much heavier and better built. This new box has drawers which are hard to open and I don't know why they added the hydraulic rams to the lid. The name is the same but the quality is not.
