Top Amazon Reviews

  • The big review - The one I got is good
This will be a very long review as you need to know all of the facts before buying this bass guitar. I’m a songwriter/composer under performance rights organization, BMI, Inc. I’m also a self administered publisher under The Mechanical Licensing Collective (The MLC). I write and record commercially licensed music, under four music libraries. And at times, I write songs for retail sale. I needed a bass guitar to record some new songs and instrumental tracks. So I took a chance on this one. I like to give you the reader, my honest opinion. I play 14 instruments and regards to my acoustic and electric string instruments, I know how to set them up as well as do upgrades and maintenance on all of them. I’ve been playing and writing music since 1984. There is a lot of Chinese factories that make these electric bass guitars, with slight changes of only the headstock. Sometimes you will buy an electric bass guitar like this and there WILL be issues, like high frets, high fret board towards the body, bad electronics and hardware (like the tuners). And like others that have posted below, you MAY get one like that as the factories are producing these as fast as possible and some of the quality assurance / control is lacking. Honestly, THIS ONE that received is pretty decent for the price I paid. List of positives: Neck did not have major curved fret board towards the end of the neck, at the body of the bass guitar. There was ONE fret that was just a little bit too high on the very end, towards the body if I pressed the string lightly, it would be passable… But I was able to take a file to that end and make it lower.. Took me less the 5 minutes. Again, not too bad at all. I was able to get the string height perfect. It looks like the factory actually tried to do some setup before shipping this one out as the neck was very straight. The string nut also looks like it was worked on to follow the radius of the fret board as well. The strings are also not that bad.. Sure.. I’ll replace them with a brand that I like to use.. But the ones on the bass that I got are ok for the short term. The top pickup that uses the two bottom bass strings, I actually had to lower (remember the screws on the side allows you to lower or raise the pickups, just don’t get too high to the strings). The reason why I lowered the top pickup as the volume of the two bass strings were noticeable louder then the to treble strings.. So I have now equal volume of all the strings. I’ve be eventually putting in two actual Fender pickups that some one gave me. The tuners are fine, some times they can be really poor but the ones one mind turn and hold well. List of negatives: The fret board was VERY dry, while I expected this I was surprised as the neck had a “white” ash looking appearance to it. Supposedly the fret board is rosewood and while you can find a lot of fret board conditioners on Amazon, I use old english lemon oil. I’ve used for over 35+ years on dark wood fret board and it’s fine to use. If you want to use something more natural, Nomad F-one oil is the closest you can get as it made with nut oils. But regardless, you’ll need to do this and the neck looks really great now. The high fret that I had was easy to fix as it was on the very end and was not that high. But that is not a part of a basic setup. Other things you need to know: The one that the seller/vendor lists as "Yellow" it is really Tobacco Sunburst as the picture shows. Nice grain in the one I got as well. A basic setup is: 1) straighten the truss rod of the neck 2) lower the bridge saddles to your string height preference. 3) Check and adjust the intonation at the bridge by shortening or lengthening the strings 4) Change the strings to your preferred brand (if needed) 5) Condition the neck fret board with your preferred oil. You really CAN learn how to do this basic setup off of YouTube, take it slow watch videos and do a little at a time. Watch more than one video on setting up a bass guitar. If you don’t want to learn how to do a basic setup, most music instrument stores will charge you $100.00 USD and even more if high frets need to be filed and re-crowned. Remember, music instrument stores LOVE to over charge for simple services. Know that Amazon has a really good return policy, if there is too many issues right of the bat like a lot of high frets, return it. The thing to remember is this is a NEW instrument and should not have any major defects regardless of what the seller/vendor may say. Remember you are Amazon valued customer, you are not a customer of the seller/vendor directly. You’ll read from some people that say this is not as good as say a Fender or xyz company that makes bass guitars, this is incorrect. IF you can do a proper setup on this one, the majority of people who say that, would not be able to tell the difference by playing this bass blindfolded or even hearing the tracks that I am writing and recording. I’ve used guitars and bass guitars like this for many years for writing music and this help me keep more money in my wallet. Also to note, if I switched out the neck of this bass for a real Fender one (which I am NOT going to do) these same people would not be able to tell the difference just by looking at it.. That’s a fact. I hope what I wrote is helpful. End game, it’s worth take a chance on this one.. The worst case is you return it and get your money back from Amazon. Remember to KEEP THE BOX just in case - Mr Tom ... show more

  • Got to hear that Base
Color: Blue Bass
I am starting a new hobby and music is one of my jazz favorites. The Base line in most jazz sound is intense so instead of playing the air guitar, I decide to get the real thing.

  • Great Beginner Bass – Quality, Sound, and Fun All in One! (With some issues)
Color: Blue Bass
I picked up the Costzon Full Size Electric 4-String Bass Guitar Starter Kit, and I’ve been using it for a few months and I am impressed. For the price, this is an excellent entry-level bass. It’s not perfect by any means but it gets the job done and great for beginners. The build quality is surprisingly solid. The rose fingerboard and bridge give it a sleek, stylish look, and the glossy blue finish really stands out. The hardware feels durable, and the tuning pegs hold tuning well. The full-size design fits perfectly in my hands, and the neck has a smooth feel that makes it easy to slide between frets. It’s comfortable to play, even for longer sessions. The sound quality delivers a clean and punchy sound with a nice range. The two tone volume controls are responsive, allowing for some tonal variety. It produces a warm, balanced tone with decent low-end punch—perfect for practice and casual jams. Setup was straightforward. The kit includes everything you need: the bass, amp cord, strap, and picks. It was pretty much plug-and-play, making it ideal for beginners. This bass is genuinely fun and easy to play, making it perfect for beginners. The action is decent out of the box, and it offers just enough versatility to experiment with different playing styles. Now onto the issues I had: While the pickups sound fine for practice, they lack the depth and clarity of higher-end basses. You might notice some slight buzzing or hum at higher volumes. The included amp cord is functional but feels cheap. It might be worth replacing it with a sturdier one. While the bass offers a decent range of tones, it’s somewhat limited. It’s fine for casual play, but more experienced players might find it lacking versatility. I had a minor problem with the strap being a little awkward to use, so be wary that it might not be the best and I would recommend getting another one. An issue I had was that the frets were rough for me, though that could be due to other factors. The Costzon bass guitar kit is a fantastic choice for beginners, offering good sound quality, ease of play, and solid value. While the electronics and accessories are basic, they get the job done for learning and practice. With a few minor upgrades (like a better amp cord or a setup tweak), it’s a fun and reliable instrument for anyone starting out. Definitely worth it for the price! ... show more

  • Excellent instrument
Well-worth the money. Excellent bass for beginners, has a really good sound. It arrived on time, carefully placed by the gate and I was instantly informed of its delivery. I'm so grateful to my Amazon drivers for the care they take in delivering all of my packages.

  • Great for beginners
Love the look and the feel of it , it holds tune pretty well , my dad who has played bass for 30+ years thought it was pretty good . He made some adjustments to tube it and tighten up the strings after opening, but it was too far off.

  • The Most Bass for the Money
This is a lightweight jewel, so easy to adjust with the allen tools provided, in 10 mins at this bridge. The feel is every bit as balanced as I expected. Even the strings are good. Now, the best part is, not only will I now learn to play, but I'll get to maintain my instrument, upgrading it with new pickups and such. I mean, you get what you pay for but with this one, you get more. And that's what we all want. Get one! ... show more

  • Completely blown away!
I was really not expecting a bass that was this good. I was fully prepared to spend some substantial time adjusting and intonating, swapping out pickets, BUT the pickups sound great. There's a tiny intonation adjustment on the D string that I'll eventually make. Frets are smooth. Sometimes I almost hear it, most times I don't, it's that slight. Tuning is not bad. I would have said great, but I became out of tune during some vigorous no-amp practice and I noticed my G was sharp, turned out all the others had kinda flattened evenly. BUT strings are still pretty new, so that may have just been part of the settling. I highly recommend for beginners. ... show more
