I ordered the Brine II sunglasses from Costa Del Mar for my adult son-in-law, and they were an instant hit. He absolutely loves them, and after seeing them in person (he let me wear them for a day so that i could review), I understand why. Costa has built a strong reputation over the years, especially among serious fishermen and boaters, for producing high-performance sunglasses that can handle real-world conditions. Knowing the brand’s history of being “born on the water” gave me confidence that these would be more than just stylish frames, as they’re truly built with purpose. First, the quality is outstanding. These are Made in the USA, and it shows in the construction and attention to detail. The 580P polarized lenses provide excellent glare reduction and 100% UV protection. The clarity is impressive, making colors look crisp and vibrant without being overly saturated. They’re especially effective around water, cutting harsh glare while enhancing contrast. One of the most noticeable features is how lightweight they are. Costa advertises them as thinner and lighter than average, and that definitely holds true. They don’t feel heavy on the face, even after extended wear. The hydrolite nose and temple grips add comfort and help them stay securely in place without pinching. Style-wise, the Brine II has a timeless, versatile look. The 8-base wrap design provides great coverage while still maintaining clean, modern proportions. They’re sporty enough for fishing or boating, but polished enough for everyday wear or driving. It’s that rare combination of performance and classic style. I have no idea how to measure for sizing, but these fit my son-in-law perfectly, and while they fit a bit larger on my face, I was able to wear them comfortably and securely. Yes, they are on the expensive side, but in this case, you truly get what you pay for. The lenses are scratch-resistant with a protective coating that repels water, oil, and sweat, which makes them practical for real-life use. They also come with a case and cleaning cloth, which is a nice touch for protecting the investment. Overall, these sunglasses feel like a long-term purchase rather than a trendy accessory. If you want lightweight comfort, premium eye protection, and a brand with a proven reputation for quality, these are absolutely worth the price. I own a pair of glass lens Costa Del Mars, and I love them, so I was excited for the opportunity to try out these poly-carbonate lens pair... and I am glad I did! Right out of the box, the overall quality is apparent, and was exactly what I was expecting. Everything about the glasses is exactly what I would expect. The fit and finish of everything is absolutely perfect. The frames are sleek and well designed and fit my face and my head great. The frames have a good amount of flex, so they fit my head and are comfortable even for hours worth of windshield time (I work in the field most of the day and do a lot of driving) and the way they sit on my ears is comfortable and so is the bridge. The blue mirror finish polarized lenses provide a perfectly crisp picture and polarization makes looking into the water so easy. I've tried so many brands of sunglasses in my lifetime. From the 12 dollar gas station cheapy to Maui Jim and everything in between, and I can't think of a pair of glasses that has better value than these. At the full retail price, they are substantially cheaper than my Maui's and the poly-carbonate lenses give a beautifully crisp picture with just a hint of yellow/amber light. I love the way the road looks through these glasses. These are a really solidly made, really nice quality pair of glasses with really solid picture that would rival their glass lenses. If you normally wear Maui Jims / Oakleys / Ray Bans and have been contemplating a pair of Costas to try out, you can't go wrong with these! ... show more

I picked these up in Matte Black/Gray 580P, and they feel like proper “performance” sunglasses the moment you put them on. The matte black frame looks clean and doesn’t throw a bunch of reflections back at you, and the gray 580P polarized lenses are a great everyday choice for bright sun — they cut glare hard without making everything look overly warm or weirdly tinted. I’ve used them mainly for driving and general outdoor time, and the polarization makes a noticeable difference on windshields, water, and bright pavement. Day-to-day, the lenses wipe clean pretty easily, which matters more than you’d think with sunglasses you’re handling a lot. They still get fingerprints like anything else, but they don’t feel like they’re constantly smearing, and the included cloth/case helps keep them from getting beat up when they’re not on my face. Weight is also a plus — they’re light enough that I can wear them for a while without feeling like they’re digging into my nose or ears. My main caveats are the normal real-world ones. Fit is personal, and while these stay put for me, if you have a narrower face you might find them a little wide and end up adjusting them more. Also, 580P is polycarbonate, so it’s nice and light, but I still treat it as “durable, not invincible” — I don’t assume it’s scratch-proof. And like most polarized lenses, certain phone/car screens can look odd at specific angles. Excellent glare-cutting and a really usable gray lens for bright conditions, with the only real negatives being fit variability and the usual care you still need to avoid lens scratches. ... show more

I ordered these sunglasses as a Christmas present for my son to wear when he goes fishing out on the boat or at the pier. According to my son, these sunglasses really help reduce the sun's glare on the water. As such, he is very pleased with them...how they look and how they feel while on. The glasses are lightweight and very comfortable--he said he's worn them all day with no problems. All in all, we think these sunglasses, though very expensive, are very worthwhile. (At this price, I just hope he can keep from losing them.) ... show more
