I bought this for the price and also that it had a finished under-side with the two screens. Cosmo has a good reputation. The lighting is not great, but I do have a magnetic strip light from Amazon that I can stick on the front if I need it. The fan is a little bit loud on high, but again it’s an economy fan. The instructions were easy- I installed it as a ductless hood. It came with everything except the charcoal filter that I needed since I would not be venting outside, so I did have to add that to the order. That is really the only real issue I had because I did have to attach that charcoal filter with electrical tape. I tried and tried to get it to attach and spin to the locked position, and it was just not happening. That is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Also, this fan comes with a plug which was perfect for me because I was replacing an above range microwave and needed to plug it into the outlet in the cabinet above. ... show more

Found this product through amazon search. It is lightweight and simple in functionality. I had to retrofit the electrical wiring. It came installed with a 3 prong plug. I cut it and spliced it with my existing wiring system. Looks clean but would have liked to see more lights, especially in the front. I may just purchase some additional LED lights and splice it and install some near the front on my own. TBD. ... show more

Update September 10, 2023: The motor began making loud noise one week ago and lost suction. Then kaput! I contacted Cosmo and learned I did not register for the warranty. A new motor is $65.00 plus shipping and Cosmo is not obligated to supply parts if not registered within 30 days of purchase. At this point in time I have a ducted non-working range hood. A word of advice, make sure you register for your warranty! First of all, this unit is quiet and pulls the fumes from my gas range as well as its rated CFM can do. A greater exhaust CFM would be better but at the expense of greater noise. I choose quiet. If needed when the kitchen gets hot, I will do as I did with the old ductless hood; open a window! Secondly, the finish and assembly are first rate and help to dress up the GE gas range. Installing as a ducted hood where no one has gone before was easier than expected. The round exhaust takeoff was puzzling at 120 millimeters in diameter, or more than 4 inches but less than 5 inches. I chose to have the five-inch duct sit on top of the hood over the 120mm [4.7 inch] and sealed the tiny gap with plumber's putty. A few holes in the cabinet and wall and siding and done. Now I know those volatile organic compounds and pesky hydrocarbons are quietly exiting my home while we prepare meals. ... show more

The install for the ductless was a bit difficult as an under mount cabinet. Could not access the back drills. The template seemed slightly off. Drilled new holes into metal and used bolts which secured it better

This range hood was a big improvement over the one that came with my home. The stainless steel looks nice and everything works as expected. Installation was more difficult than it should have been as the wall anchors do not work well. I highly recommend using your own. Under side doesn't look empty like similarly priced basic Braun ductless units. Box damaged in shipping, but that's not Cosmo's fault - it was properly packaged. Minor ding on the top of the hood but not a big enough issue to go through replacement. Not a huge fan of needing to use plastic plugs for the duct holes to make it ductless, but they were easy to install and so was the charcoal filter (that you need to buy separately womp womp). Reviewers expecting huge air suction are looking at the wrong price point. This is comparable in price to builder grade apartment rental unit ductless vent hoods like Braun but this one looks much better. If you temper your expectations to what else is on the market, this comes out ahead. ... show more
