  • Good PSU for low-power builds, too
Style: CX650M Pattern: Power Supply
I needed to replace the 10-year old Antec 380W PSU for my modest build: Ryzen 2200g with integrated graphics, 16 gb memory, M2 nvme, and dvd drive. It had evolved over the years to that configuration, with the Antec PSU being the oldest part still standing. It hadn't ever failed or caused any kind of problem. But it's exhaust air at idle had become warm enough to hint that it was on its way out. At the time I ordered it, the Corsair cx650m was a very good deal: less expensive than the similar 550, with the 450 being unavailable at any reasonable price. But I was concerned the 650 would be less efficient than the 450 for the modest power my machine used. It seemed outlandish to have a psu that was rated at four to six times the power required. A comparison at a few popular hardware-test sites showed that the efficiency at my typically low power levels was practically identical for the 450 and 650 -- and quite good by any standard. All the corsair cx-m units had glowing reveiws after what looked like very picky examination and testing. I was also concerned that having an "overpowered" psu could somehow damage my computer. A little reading showed that's not normally a worry. In addition, the cx650m passed all the limit / protection tests the experts threw at it. Although I wasn't able to confirm this, it also seems reasonable that a power supply will last longer if it's just coasting than if it's under a heavy load all the time. Maybe, maybe not. We'll see. Installing the CX650 was a breeze. It powered up with no problem, and the exhaust air was cool. If I put my ear next to the case, I could barely hear the fan at idle. (Corsair advertises that the fan speed is constant from 0 to nearly 400W.) With the computer under the desk, I can't hear it at all. Any ATX build needs at least the two fixed cables that are on the unit. My dvd player required one of the five additional modular cables that were included. So the interior of the case is much less cluttered than before, presumably with better air flow now. With luck, the bit of web research and this review will be the last thoughts I give to power supplies for the next ten years. ... show more

  • Nice power supply, but missed by a hair
Style: CX750M Pattern: Power Supply
This was purchased to go into a Corsair case, so of course it is a perfect fit. But like others have mentioned, it is disappointing to have all of the modular cables be simple wires rather than wrapped. While it likely does not reduce the efficiency of the unit, it just looks...cheap. And while it is not the most expensive power supply on the market, it gives the appearance of being an after thought rather than something designed from the start. When compared to the cse it went into - by the same company - there is a marked difference. So 4 stars rather than 5. ... show more

  • Amazing power supply, i love corsair products
Style: CX750M Pattern: Power Supply
since building my pc i’ve come to really love corsair products and this power supply has been my favorite so far. love the option to plug and play with what connectors you want. works great i mean my pc isn’t a beast but it’s got a i5 11400k CPU and a RTX 3060 OC 12GB GPU and haven’t seen any issue. hoping since it’s a low wattage chip that i can easily upgrade to a i7 or i9. should be more than enough for what you need to do in a mid range to high range gaming pc :) ... show more

  • Good power supply. Buy if you find it on sale.
Style: CX750M Pattern: Power Supply
Extremely quiet. After putting my system on full load to check strain on the PSU I didn't notice any spots with high temperature (Then again, my system just uses about 400W under full load). I was able to bring my CPU and GPU overclocks even higher with lower temperature due to cleaner power supply. Now, what I didn't like: The SATA connectors are all L shaped, which makes them harder to connect to SATA SSDs, which are normally mounted either vertically or in the division between the board area and the PSU area. That generates an unnecessary hard bending of the cables. ... show more

  • Not the seller's fault
Style: CX750M Pattern: Power Supply
So I'm going to be as kind as a plus we can in this because I do not feel that it is the seller's fault that this happened now let me run you through how my purchase went I ordered the power supply for my computer it arrived on time well packaged I installed it had no problems and for about 3 months it was a good power supply I was sitting at my computer watching a video and started to notice a sizzling sound coming from the back of my computer I look up and notice smoke it starts crackling so I tap the back of the computer gently thinking that maybe some dirt or something had gotten in the way and a big flash shot out the back of my power supply, now if my power hadn't already went off on my computer I would have turned it off as quick as possible I instantly shut off everything uninstalled the power supply and put my previous one back in which eliminates me being able to use my graphic card, so anyway I contacted Amazon and I feel that this is not their fault either as they did try to help me with the situation but they had informed me that I did not pay for a protection plan but I was still in the time period to return the item and receive a refund all I would have to do is wait for an email and then ship it back what's the email never came so here it is almost 4 months after buying the power supply if I do recall and I still have a dead power supply so I decided to take it apart it turns out that the circuit board was broken in transit I further investigate the power supply and it turns out that the circuit board was so low to the metal that it started to heat up causing the burn mark that you see in the picture, now again I don't feel that this is the sellers issue and I don't feel that this is Amazon's issue I feel that it was an issue with Transit but what am I to do I do not know still currently without a power supply to be able to run my graphic card I feel that I am out of the amount that I put into it and have nothing to show for it it's sad but not sure what to do on the matter it is up to you rather you feel that it's a good purchase honestly while it worked I absolutely loved it for the power supply itself I would have to say it is a really good purchase if it is handled with care. ... show more
