  • GREAT CASE FOR BEGINNER PC BUILDERS
*****Update***** 5/26/2018 Corsair Carbide Series 270R - Mid-Tower ATX Case, Windowed Cases CC-9011105-WW Ok, just wanted to update my review. I have had this case since OCT 2017 and have not any major problems. This was my first entry level case that I used for my first build, and at the time I really loved it and enjoyed using it. But over time I have developed a lot of gripes about this case. This by no means is a bad case. I just outgrew the case and wished that I would have gotten a different one that would have grown with me. I am going to keep this nice and simple but I want to add a neutral point to the pros and cons. PROS: Cheap Solid build quality Reputable brand Decent amount space for various cooling options from the front to the top of the case PSU shroud Good cable management Simple/minimalistic design. Thumb screws galore. NEUTRAL: (2) SSD mounting points. (2) HDD mounting points. For me this was one of the biggest turning points for me. As I grew, I need more space for storage and had to resort to using a Wavlink Dual HDD Docking Station to use more drives. Air flow is ok due to the open design but it hurts itself due to the front panel. Windowed side panel. Bad part is that it is acrylic. CONS: Front panel air flow is depended on two slivers of meshed vent on each side. Approx: 16.5”x.5” left side and 9.5”x.5” right side. Front I/O is on the top right side of the case. To most this is not an issue, but for me I would have liked it on top of the front panel or on the front face panel. To me this made it an issue because most users have their towers to the right side of the desk. This is inconvenient because you now have to physically look to turn the tower on. There is no top or front case fan dust filter. The only one is on the bottom for the PSU. No rubber grommets for cable routing. Front of the PSU has a lot of wasted space if you are not water cooling, this could have been room for expandable storage. Conclusion: This is a great beginner case for anyone who want to have a simple build and not worrying about expanding too quickly like I did. Just be aware that most of my CONS/NEUTRALS are the reason why this case is a entry level case and why it is so cheap. At the end of the day this is a bare bones case with no frills and it gets the job done. I would recommend this case to anyone who fall in this category. *****Update***** I want to add on the lack of top and front case filters. Also sent a message to Corsair to see if they are making aftermarket filters for both the top and front. Currently their is no aftermarket filters on their website and I have not found any third parties making yet. *****Original***** Great tower to built in for a beginner PC builder. The cable management is great in this case. I just wish the front io was on the other side of the case so that i dont have to stand up and reach around cause i have the window facing forward. but that is just my opinion. ... show more

  • No front panel slots, limited to four storage devices
Style: Solid Panel
This case is well built and sturdy. However, it has ZERO openings in the front panel for optical drives, USB memory card readers, fan controls or anything else. It also has internal mounts for only four storage devices - two 2.5 inch and two 3.5 inch. Storage devices are mounted on carriers which attach to the side of the case The front panel connectors are actually on the side and consist of two USB3 ports, a microphone and headphone port, power and reset buttons. The side panel also includes a power indicator light and a drive access light. The top, bottom and back are mostly mesh. There are lots of places to mount fans and water cooling systems. The front panel is also mostly mesh with mounts for three fans. The front cover has mesh inserts all the way around to help filter dust. The power supply (not included) mounts at the bottom and is configured to draw air through the bottom of the case. There is a removable filter element (really just a fine mesh screen). The filter can be removed for cleaning. It removes from the back and does not require tipping or tilting the case to get it out. One case fan is included. It is not a PWM fan. Plenty of hardware is included. Screws to mount fans, storage devices and other stuff are all in sacks. Several zip ties are included, and the case has plenty of tie-downs for keeping wires tidy. The mainboard mount posts are installed for a full-size ATX board. The locations for mini- and micro-ATX boards are well marked. If you need lots of cooling, no optical drives and only a few hard drives, this is a good case. If you need a lot of hard drives, as for a server, look for something else. ... show more

  • High quality, well-designed case that rivals the S340.
Very impressive case - very deliberately designed, and obviously built with enthusiasts in mind. It's comparable to, if not better than the NZXT S340, but definitely beats it in price. The paint is solid and tough (a few errant screwdriver strikes didn't appear to scratch it), and much harder to mark up than the S340 satin black. The entire top of this case is "open" with only a wide metal grate of air holes. It can very easily handle large radiators and means the computer runs pretty cool. Front and top can handle 140 mm fans. The case itself is actually quite wide and can handle all but the most ridiculously oversized CPU air coolers. I'm using one of the taller coolers on the market (Coolermaster T2), which has a full 120mm fan mounted, and it still clears. I have a very, very large graphics card (Zotac 1070 AMP Extreme!) and it fits quite nicely with room to spare, both on width and length. It's easy to build in this case - tons of studs for zip-ties in cable routing, deliberate placement of every item, multi-functional fans and screw holes. I'm using a very standard 2x120 mm in push pull (similar to how they ship stock, which is basically the industry standard) and it's fast, cool, and clean. The cable routing is pretty simple, too - I routed my front fan cable behind the side panel. Again, it was incredibly easy to get almost no exposed cables on this case. Getting clean, linear airflow should be pretty easy. One thing that doesn't make sense to me is that the front panel is on the opposite side of the window, which means the power button, USB, and audio jacks will face away from the user (since obviously the window will face out). It would make far more sense to have the window and USB ports on the same side. Bummer, because the panel is well-built and designed, and the Another observation is that of the two (admittedly, entry-level) fans that this case ships with, one is a red LED fan. I replaced this with a black non-lit fan lying around. ... show more
