    • Not a ratchet style keyless chuck. Takes two hands to tighten the chuck.
This review is for Cordless Drill 12V, HARDELL 2-Speed Power Drill. Drill arrives with one 1500 mAh rechargeable battery with partial charge. Battery is inserted into the handle of the drill during use. To recharge the battery it needs to be removed from the handle. The power plug at the end of the wall transformer’s cable is plugged into the top of the battery. Transformer’s LED changes from red (during charging) to green (once fully charged). The chuck opens to 3/8” (10 mm). It is keyless but takes two hands to tighten. My go-to Dewalt drill needs only one hand to tighten and is fully tightened when it begins to ratchet. This Hardell drill does not have ratchet style chuck so you must just tighten it until you feel a lot of resistance. There is a white LED illumination light just above the trigger. There are 3 smaller green LED lights just above the trigger that indicate battery charge. The misc accessories include several carbide tip masonry bits, impact and non-impact drill bits and a nice flexible shaft that accepts screwdriver bits. My Dewalt will remain my go-to cordless drill but I plan to keep this Hardell with my upper floors so I can save having to carry the Dewalt upstairs/downstairs. ... show more

    • light duty, no chuck lock
This would be fine for small jobs around the house, but not for a pro. The chuck does not lock like some other drills making it a little tough to tighten. It does have a clutch, though it is noisy and I don't think this is powerful enough to drive long screws for long. The forward and reverse switch can easily be moved with your index finger while holding the handle. The low speed switch is very tight and hard to move. The battery is removed from the drill to charge it. There is no info on replacement batteries though it looks similar to other 12v drills. The bits are an interesting collection of metric and standard and do not look to be of high quality but probably OK for household chores. I don't think the flex shaft will have any real use other than to play with. I have seen other off-brand tools at the imported tool store for half the price with a charging base and optional spare batteries. In fact, when the big box store has a sale you can get a brand name tool for about the same price as this - without the interesting collection of bits. ... show more

    • Decent Small Drill for Home Use
This small drill is very handy for small projects. This is not a large drill nor a drill for heavy use but for quick jobs around the house it works pretty well. I just used it to drill pilot holes to mount a light in my garage. The drill does come with a starter set of drill bits of various sizes. I used a not included Phillips head bit to drive the 4 2” screws and it drove all 4 with no problems. The drill has a keyless Chuck and the bit is secured by tightening by hand. This seems to work ok. The speed can be controlled with pressure variation on the trigger to speed up or slow down the spin. There are also many torque settings. I had to adjust a bit as one screw did get hung up a bit. Overall this is a decent drill to keep charged up for quick projects. ... show more

You can't compare this to the big-name brands, and it's not trying to be. This is a small 12V drill/driver for light to medium duty home use. It comes with a 12V battery and a strange assortment of drill bits. I would strongly recommend this for men or women who need one for crafting. That being said, I just used it to put up some curtain rods and under counter lights and it did a great job. But we'll need more batteries. ... show more

This is a nicely made, comfortable drill/screwdriver that's got enough power to handle just about any homeowner task. That's the basics, but it's got pros and cons. Pros: Comfy and lightweight compared to, say, my Ryobi 18V drill/screwdriver. It's got some extra features, like a torque limiter, you won't find in cheap drills. Plenty of power. Cons: Battery can be popped right out, but there are no replacements or extras available. When the battery goes, this is trash. Quality feels good for homeowner tasks, but may not hold up for heavier-duty use. Bits that come with it feel cheap; no included screwdriver bit (but that's easy to find at any hardware store). ... show more

I'll start by saying that I am not a professional and I use drills occasionally around the house (most recently to put up a new mailbox). For my purposes, this is a solid drill. It is powerful enough for the odd screwing I need to do. It comes with a rechargeable battery, is comfortable to hold, and is pretty lightweight.
