We had seen this used on a trip to Italy. The sommelier at the tasting room highly recommended it. He was absolutely correct. After we received the Coravin, we used it to open a 22 year old bottle of expensive Cabernet Sauvignon. It was wonderful but we only drank two glasses. Because the Coravin had left the cork intact, we tested the promise that the wine would practically be as though it had never been opened. Five days later, we removed the cork to drink the second half of the bottle. As promised, the wine was just as wonderful as the first night. We love this product. My only regret about this product is that I didn't buy it sooner. Easy to use, and, while the argon gas isn't inexpensive, I can get 7 or 8 bottles of usage out of each argon canister, or a buck a bottle, by using the canister for the 1st 2 6-oz glasses out of each bottle, then popping the cork for the 2nd half of the bottle. I no longer hesitate about drinking a more expensive bottle of wine, since I won't need to drink the whole bottle over 1-2 days or toss the remainder. ... show more

I recently got into wine and wanted to sample a lot of different nice bottles, but I don't generally like to drink more than a single glass at a time. I've saved so much money using this to sample from a selection of about 10 bottles over the past few months and I'm so happy. Fantastic wine opener - will keep your wine for an exceptionally long time! However, the needle is plastic! Same bottle of wine as all the others before - nothing different… same vineyard, same bottle, same cork, same year. Have used it about 5 times. Placed it on the bottle & had no idea the needle bent instead Of entering the cork! Now having to buy a new needle this early in the game! ... show more

I'd go 4 stars if 1) this wasn't so expensive, and 2) the product didn't claim they could preserve wine for weeks or months. Gotta call BS on that. Few days, yes I will agree that 80-90% of the wine flavor is preserved. But it's not perfect, I can detect loss of some of the complexity and sugars just like any wine that has been opened and exposed to oxygen. I'm sticking with this for now, but would say that the advertising for this product is not totally accurate. ... show more
