  • Holds lots of books without taking up too much space
Size: 5 tier rolling
My books have been multiplying again, and I was out of room on my bookshelves, so I started the search for additional storage solutions. Problem is that I have limited space for new bookshelves and wasn't sure how to handle this. Then I stumbled on this rotating bookcase. It holds all the books I had piled up waiting for homes, plus I was able to start cleaning up my other bookcases (double rows were causing shelves to bow). Once bookcase was completely full (around 90-100 books total), I was able to easily wheel it across the room to its new "home". It takes up a small footprint, so it wasn't hard to find a corner to place it, and since it wheels easily, I can pull it out to find books without any problems. The description of it being a "rotating" bookcase is slightly misleading. I interpreted that to mean that the bookcase could stay in one place and rotate independently from the wheeled base. That is not the case - it rotates because of the wheels, which is not necessarily a smooth circle in one spot, so make sure you have some room to maneuver if you need to rotate to other sides. Putting it together: All the reviews said that this was simple to put together, and eventually I agreed, but I spent 20 minutes of extreme frustration first. The "instructions" are just one page of diagrams, no actual instructions. As is my routine, I pulled everything out of the box, grabbed the instruction sheet and compared all the parts against it to make sure I had everything I needed. I was pleased to see a screwdriver included - no need to go dig through the junk drawer! So I studied the diagrams until I was fairly confident I knew what was what and I grabbed the first two pieces and corresponding screws, along with that lovely screwdriver that was included. I got that first screw in about halfway, and then it just wouldn't go any further, no matter how hard I tried. Finally I grabbed a second screw and figured I would try that to see if the problem is just the predrilled hole or something else. Again, it started good but couldn't get past halfway point. As my hand began to ache from my efforts and my husband laughed at me, I finally grabbed my phone to check the original listing for pointers. Nothing obvious, until I got to one review that mentioned an Allen wrench. Sure enough, when I dug deeper in the bag of screws, I found that darned little piece of metal that made my life 1000 times better. When I went back to those original screws, they went in like a dream. I had the rest of the thing put together in less time than I had struggled with those first two screws. So it turns out the screwdriver is only needed for attaching the wheels. The Allen wrench is not identified anywhere on the list of included parts, and because it was so well hidden in the bag of screws, I never even considered that I wasn't using the correct tool. Screwdriver was front and center, seemed obvious that it was intended to be used. Maybe I'm just a little dense or was having a bad day - I've put together so many pieces of furniture over the years that I can't even count them all, and I've never had a problem like this. I probably should have known that these screws needed an Allen wrench not Phillips screwdriver (in my defense, this was at 9 p.m. and not good lighting), but it would be so easy for the manufacturer to just include that with the other parts on the instruction sheet and save a ton of time and swearing. ... show more

  • A lovely product
Size: 5 tier rolling
I’ve recently moved to a small studio apartment, about 500 square feet, so space is precious. I ended up with all my craft books in big boxes in a closet. In order to have them more accessible, I decided I’d get this bookcase. A lovely product, it’s made of very slender pieces of bamboo wood, so it doesn’t dominate the room like a standard bookcase might—think in terms of a turnstile case in a bookshop. I got the dark rusty-brown style which looks very nice. The unassembled case came in a lightweight cardboard package that was easy to move (I’m a 76 year old female), with all parts intact and as described. It also had the usual hex tool and surprisingly a very nice Phillip’s screwdriver for assembly. The most useful part of the instructions was “be patient!” Not my strong suit, but I managed. It is somewhat awkward to assemble though no more so than this type of thing usually is. If I who am all thumbs can do it, you surely can. The assembled bookcase is around 5 feet in height with the wheels. The footprint is roughly 12 square inches. At first I was worried that it might be top heavy and unstable with a lot of heavy books on it, but it seems just fine. The wheels might have been just a little bigger, since it moves sluggishly with a full load. It pushes more easily than it pulls. It does rotate more easily, and that’s the important point, since the books are distributed in different directions. It can therefore occupy whatever corner you might have and will still be accessible. I found that a volume the height and length of a magazine—like Scientific American—would fit into the slots easily and vertically, resting upright in the usual position. Some books that were a little taller would fit into the slot resting on the opening edges, but the bottom edge will stick out from the shelf more. If what you have to place are books the size of standard murder mysteries, they’ll fit wonderfully; you might even get a double stack. My large picture book from the NY Metropolitan Museum, however, was too big to fit in either vertically or upended, so there are definite limits on size. Stabilizing rods that cross in the center of each cubical limit the depth of what you can store without having items sticking out of the shelf. The openings are adequate for about a 5 inch width of material in each of the 4 slots on four shelves. You could place some books flat on the top if you wanted to, or possibly a plant. (I just might do so to prevent my cats from torturing my ivy!) ... show more

  • Sturdy attractive and the right size
Size: 5 tier
If you need a shelf for an 8in wide space (Mine had to fit 8x20) you will not find a better price. Well made, pretty, easy to assemble, affordable.

  • Cheap price but you get what you paid for
Size: 5 tier
Decent looking and quick to assemble, but flimsy and cheaply made. A minor wooden joint was broken, one screw was unusable, one hole was bored too small to get a screw in. Felt like I had to put lots of heavy books at the bottom just for ballast. But it doesn't seem about to collapse or fall apart Biggest problem is the recesses in the shelves, they're more like shallow trays. Books the wrong size won't sit right and may take minor damage over time But hey, it's cheap ... show more

  • Excellent product
Size: 5 tier rolling
Bought this on a whim as I have many books but not where to put them, and it did not disappoint. It looks just like the picture and even though the instructions aren’t very clear the assembly was very easy. Also, they included everything, so there was no need to look for tools. Looks very good and takes up very little space. ... show more

  • books galore
Size: 5 tier
I needed a small shelf for a small space. This fit just right. Not a sturdy bookcase but will last if not abused. I do not recommend it for a kids room.

  • Do not throw your money away!
Size: 5 tier rolling
I don’t know if the holes are not drilled well, the screws don’t fit right, or the screwdriver included is the wrong size. I bought a rechargeable screwdriver to do the work, since the screws/screwdriver won’t turn, and that wouldn’t work. Seriously a waste of money. I can put things together, and have on many occasions, but this does not work. I was unable to disassemble it, the screws would not turn to come out. Throwing in the trash today. ... show more
