This is a fun toy for learning numbers and numerical relationships, pattern recognition, estimating and mathematical operations, and it will grow with your child from kindergarten all the way through 4th or 5th grade. There are multiple modes of play that can be selected getting gradually more difficult from simply listening and observing as the game recites addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts to pattern recognition (game shows 2 4 6, answer is 8), to single and then double-digit addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, To estimating whether the result of an equation will be greater than, lesser than or equal to a given number, to performing all of these mathematical operations within an allotted 10 or 5 seconds. There is a built-in slot to hold the stylus for the erasable, reusable scratchpad. One thing I don't like about this is that the whole game has to be recharged. Whether you're homeschooling a single child who's looking forward to playing with this when she's finished her spelling or you're a classroom teacher or a specialist who is using it as a reward, sooner or later you're going to have a situation where you want to be able to use it, but the battery is dead. This is something that I think would be much more practical if it ran on replaceable AA or AAA batteries. The other, worse problem with this math toy or game or whatever you want to call it, is that there is no volume control or mute button. In a classroom setting you cannot offer this to quietly occupy your early finishers. It would be far too distracting. In a homeschool situation, you will need to find something else if you want to occupy your little scholar long enough for you to have a quiet break. Apart from those two, fairly minor issues, this is a great little gadget for teaching basic arithmetic.

The media could not be loaded. I don't really like to do a lot of electronic screen time, but things that are small, portable and educational are great to have around. I didn't expect much from an electronic game under $10, but this one has surprised me. It is extremely lightweight and easy to use. I like that it has a large variety of games (quizzes) on it for all different skill levels. There is something on here for all the children in the house (ages 3-10) to practice their math skills on. I like that you can just answer the questions or set the timer to 5 or 10 seconds to work on answering with speed. I like that even if the kids do something that is pretty easy for them, this can still challenge them with the timer function, thus improving their fluency and skill. As you answer questions correctly you advance to more challenging questions. You even get praised for every correct answer. There are also functions on there that just go through different math problems (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), telling you the answers. This device is engaging for all of the children. They are happy to get to use an electronic device, and I am happy that it is educational. The volume is adjustable, which is always a plus! There is a writing pad that can be used if you need to work out a problem. While many of these problems are things you would ultimately want to do in your head, I find this writing pad to be a great addition for beginners. I like to introduce some of the more advanced concepts to young children as well. so this comes in handy for that. For example, if we don't set the timer the 3-year-old can draw out pictures to help with multiplication problems. The stylus for this pad slides right into the device, It isn't super easy to get out of there and it doesn't attach to the board so it is easy to lose. It does have a hole in the top of it, however, so I may tie a string to it to see if I can connect it somehow. This is a great tool to let the kids use during quiet time, when I just need them to focus on something else so I can get something else done, or in the car. It charges up easily with the included USB cord, but I don't think it warms you of the battery level at all. I have been happy with this toy and I think it is a handy device to have around.

First, it does work. It has a lot of cute little games on it. You can draw on the tablet part and even lock the picture in place, so it can't be cleared. The downsides? It feels really flimsy and I'd KILL for a mute button. It's annoyingly loud.
