I put things together all of the time but this was probably one of the hardest things yet. You definitely need an assistant to help! It also broke in the process (thank god I had wood glue on hand) so it’s definitely not the sturdiest piece of furniture either and not worth the cost. Nice decorative piece for shelving books and Knick knacks. Sturdy on medium pile carpet but I would anchor to wall if kids or pets will be near it. Has a bit of a smell. Aired out pieces in garage for 2 days and then used lemon wood polish after assembly.

The shelf itself is beautiful and very sturdy, and looks lovely in my living room. It is more than enough for the purpose I wanted it for which is displaying knick knacks, fountains and candles, etc. My husband assembled it however, and said it was a little difficult, and the instructions weren’t precise. He said you have to pay close attention to what you’re doing because it’s easy to put the pieces on backwards, and the screws are very cheap. But each piece is marked and once you figure it out, it’s all good. ... show more

    • Incorrect Nails Included

Although the bookshelf looks good, it's not the easiest the assemble. Not everything is included, so make sure to have a sturdy screw of your own. The nails that were included for the top panel of the shelf were not the right size, it was too small and short to hold the wood board to the shelf. I was disappointed that such an amateur manufacturing mistake could happen for such a nice shelf. I had to go to Home Depot myself and spend a long time looking for the correct nail size. After I bought the correct size nails, then the shelf could finally be completed. The instructions weren't too clear either, but after a while you get the hang of it. Overall, it's a pretty shelf that seems quite sturdy. However, the assembly and incorrect nails were a hassle. Also, make sure not to screw the nails too much into the boards or else the wood starts chipping at the spot. ... show more

I gave this four stars only because it was not fun to put together at all. The instructions were small and hard to follow. But once it was finally put together, I'm very happy with the look, the quality and it works well for what I wanted it for. Love the look!
