Coming from the nutritional supplement world, I've learned to trust the ingredient label (in this case MSDS sheet) more than the marketing. When I received this product I found odd that it stated "Sodium Carbonate: 0.95%, Other ingredients 99.05%" on the front of the bottle. With the 99.05% accounting almost in its totality for the water, that leaves very little active ingredient. And to make matters worse, Sodium Carbonate is just 'Washing Soda', a cheap household chemical. I didn't really get where the special "mold crushing" ingredient was. After I checked the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) for more info, it only listed "Sodium Carbonate: <1%, Trisodium Phosphate (TSP): 1-5% (by weight)". Both are cheap household chemicals a large section of people already have. Washing soda is used for laundry, and TSP is a general purpose household detergent and degreaser. If that's all this product is composed of, it isn't special at all. With a box of each (under 20$), you could make hundreds of gallons of the same liquid. I even poured Concrobium Mold Control liquid out of the bottle and it's pretty much crystal clear and odorless, so it certainly isn't evident that it's saturated with some special mold-annihilating substance. In the end I decided to just make my own using a 16oz empty spray bottle, around 500 grams of distilled water, some 5 grams of baking soda, and some 20 grams of TSP. The resulting liquid looks pretty much identical. Out of curiosity (and because I had the tool at hand), I checked the specific gravity of each liquid with a refractometer. Both the 'Concrobium Mold Control' and the DIY mix had very similar specific gravity, and barely above that of distilled water. In other words you're pretty much buying water with this product. Personally, I think I won't ever buy this product again and I'll just use more heavy duty chemicals if the issue is needed or just mix my own for light cleaning. ... show more

    • Works magically when used correctly

To those who say it doesn't work: Please try it again, and follow the directions explicitly. This chemical depends on physical action (crystallization) to break apart the mold molecules and "disarm" them. It must be saturated, then dry in place to have this effect. You can catch the runoff, but don't dry the surface, just wipe it lightly. This stuff doesn't "poison" the mold chemically, like bug killer does to bugs, but "cracks" it apart, like ice expands when it freezes. Used properly, this stuff it magic. I live aboard my boat in Savannah, Georgia, and it controls mold beautifully in very heavy heat and humidity. To Concrobium: 1 weakness is its lack of viscosity. Don't bother ordering this. It arrived just as other reviewers had said-inadequately packaged and leaked on other products. Really? Does this company not read the reviews? Screw the lid on tighter and ship it in a sealed plastic bag. Luckily the only other thing in the box was the aerosol version of this product. The aerosol is amazing!!!!! That product does a great job. This spray bottle is messy and gets things too wet. Plus it's a real hassle to spray. I saw a video review and the woman mentioned that the spray was hard for her due to arthritis or some other joint pain issue. I don't have that problem so I disregarded that detail. Well, I think I have some joint issue now after pumping that spray bottle so many times. It really gets uncomfortable after a few minutes. Don't waste your time and money on this spray; order this same company's aerosol can and you'll be very satisfied. ... show more

I was having humidity problems in my apartment, the weather here tends to be very humid and I was really very frustrated. It cleaned up the mold and it quickly grew back, it got everywhere because of the mold spores, it was crazy. Tired of not seeing results even with bleach or vinegar, we decided to invest in a dehumidifier and something that was not toxic to kill the mold, I bought 3 small dehumidifiers first and put them in each room, but although they did their work they took 3 days to fill so it was not solving the problem. My husband and I tired of having to clean the mold and this already causing me a sinusitis we decided to invest in a large dehumidifier, First we bought the mold control mold cleaner and a large humidifier and as if by magic no more moisture problems in house no more spores in the air. I recommend that you clean and kill the mold with the "mold control" cleaner first, it is not toxic or has a strong odor like bleach and it really kills the mold, then I recommend that you invest some money in a large dehumidifier. 200% recommended to anyone with humidity problems. ... show more

I used it extensively (albeit gently) on a big collection of used hardback books that came from the mainland to live in Hawaii. After a month or so in this humidity (no A/C) mold visibly exploded all over the books (hundreds of them). After treatment and careful drying, the books looked much better and, best of all, no new mold growth. This stuff really works if you have the right application for it. I suspect some people disappointed with this product confuse mold with mildew/"black mold". Not sure how it would handle that or if anything even can. ... show more
