Being a huge Beethoven fan, I had very high expectations for a music book with ALL his Sonatas in it. I was thoroughly pleased to see it come the day before it's expected arrival, and the neat condition it was in. While I was iffy on the binding, and if the contents would spill out, I was excited to finally play Beethoven. But please bear with me on this. Upon first glance, the text seemed readable. I turned the page and the font appeared to be small. I looked to the bottom of the page, and the text was inconsistent, and the text was barely legible, as if it the print was printed using multiple sheet music sites or what not. Also the fact that I was especially excited to play "The Tempest" 3rd movement. I looked and was excited to find "The Tempest" Op. 1. I looked through the entire book and no 2nd or 3rd movement. I was saddened. My back up was to turn to "Moonlight Sonata Op. 3". I looked, found the 1st movement. Fantastic! :) 2nd and 3rd weren't there. The 3rd being my favorite (because it's the coolest sounding). I was a bit disappointed with no 3rd movements for 2 of my favorite pieces. So because of this, I'll play what this book has to offer. Though if you're looking for good Beethoven music, 8Notes has great printable sheet music, with only a $20 cost yearly. Though this book has a lot of great pieces, it wasn't all the pieces I was looking for. There isn't even the legendary "Pathetique Op. 2" everyone knows. That would have been a 3rd back up choice. I'll have to look at the reviews before I make another purchase. While I do support this book and anything Beethoven, I would have loved to all the Sonatas like stated. Either way, thank you! I enjoy what I have and will head to the piano! :) ... show more

Nice to have all the sonatas in one volume. Though the tome is a couple of inches thick and somewhat awkward to tote around, once you set it on the piano music rack it is easy to turn the pages thanks to the spiral binding (moreso than with a hard binding). I like the Schirmer edition; the fingering suggestions are generally good (one can always quibble) and the foot notes are very helpful to aid in interpretation. Wonderful book filled with well printed Sonatas. I agree that the plastic comb binding needs to be replaced immediately. This binding is overflowing and through extensive use will fall apart. But it looks like an easy fix with some wire bindings and cutting the book in thirds (about 200 pages each) would work well. Otherwise this is really excellent! I suggest that this collection be divided into 3 volumes; one volume is simply too thick: it falls off the piano music stand. I paid to have it divided and bound into 3 separate volumes, with the covers laminated. These smaller volumes are far more convenient.
