Easy to use and works exactly as expected. Not strong, but didn’t expect it to be. Compass moves easily and is the best ball compass I’ve used. Thermometer seems to work fine as well, and matched other thermometers for accuracy. Product handles submersion in fresh water just fine. I personally wouldn’t use it for map reading, and it isn’t super intuitive unless you tell the user how it works. Bought several as gifts, all work equally well. It now lives on my bag.

I couldn't rate accuracy and easy-to-read above, because it depends on which functionality you're talking about. The compass is easy to read and accurate. But the thermometer is so tiny I struggle to read it. I generally don't carry a magnifying glass when hiking! The thermometer also reads at least 4° too warm, so I'll have to mentally subtract degrees whenever I look at it.

Compass seems to work okay, although it's not immediately clear how to read it, which requires you to ignore the larger, external letters and focus on the smaller internal ones. The thermometer is wildly inaccurate. It is currently reporting a temperature of approximately 90 degrees Fahrenheit in my 70 degree apartment on a 66 degree day. I purchased to replace a carabiner I use to hold my keys; the one I have is climbing-grade and works very well, hooking into one of my belt loops easily. This construct, on the other hand, mounts the ball compass on the same side that the latch opens, meaning you can't actually fit anything more than a few millimeters wide into the opening. As such, I cannot get it onto my belt loop. I had a pretty low expectations, and yet I am still thoroughly disappointed.

Compared it to 2 other compasses, a digital and a reliable manual, this sun compass combo is definitely 180 degrees off. Update: Company reached out, way past purchase return window btw, refunded my money which I appreciate and I no longer have resentment :0) thank you.

Don't buy this unless you are willing to do some work. It's a very nicely designed thermometer and compass, and it's very accurate, but unfortunately, in cold weather, the glass sphere containing the compass fell out of the device and is lost. Otherwise this was a great device that functioned as intended. I'm deciding whether to buy another and remove the glass sphere and replace it with better adhesive, vs. shopping for a different device.

This little guy surprised me. I wanted a simple compass that was easy to use and easy to keep up with. Well the carabiner makes keeping it safe easy. The compass is so smooth at any rotation and it also tells you which direction you are looking! Super nice. The thermometer is a nice extra too.
