A well constructed manual compass, loaded with essential features at an excellent price. I bought this particular compass because it has a mirror, allowed magnetic declination to be easily accounted for and, as importantly, it is also a clineometer, allowing heights and slope angles to be calculated. The instructions are good but I recommend watching a video or two on how to use a compass if you are a novice or rusty, as they make the instructions easier to understand. As one of the 10 hiking essentials a manual compass is essential and this fits the bill. The whistle is also great to have!

Decent compass for a budget compass.. No it's not a Suunto or a Silva.. But for basic orienteering.. It does the job... I read reviews saying it came without a mirror... That claim is completely false.. You have to peel off the white protective membrane off the mirror to reveal it... It is there! I think the ad should inform future purchasers this bit of info.. Or I might've given it 5 stars... Otherwise.. I'm dying to test it out.. The whistle is "so-so" Will update review upon further testing in the field...

I haven't actually used it out in the field, but I took it in my backyard and it seems quite accurate. The mirror cover was a little difficult to remove but once I got it off it seems like the mirror is good quality. The luminous dial should be easy to see in low light.
