Comotomo x Boon Nursh
Color: Pink
Size: 5 Ounce (Pack of 2)
I'm a second time mom here and my first baby was exclusively bottle fed. After I went thru different brands on the market for one bottle that actually would reduce his air intake, I decided to stay with Tommy Teepee ones, that was 3 yrs ago. So this time around, I was browsing for my second baby and I came across those new silicon bottles. I decided to give a chance due to the great reviews. So, I got a set of boon Nursh and one of Comotomo. This review will be a basic comparison of both. Boon Nursh it is cheaper than Comotomo, one set of boon comes with 3 bottles, while Comotomo comes with 2, plus the fact that you can buy silicon pouches and nipples separately for the nursh saves you money in the long run since the plastic parts never touch the milk. Personally, I like to keep at least 6-10 bottles available, instead of wash 3 or 2 constantly. They both are made of silicon and the plastic parts never touch the milk, which is great and they do not retain odors like the plastic ones do. Both claim to be easy to clean and yes they are! Silicon dries faster than plastic bottles and they both have way less parts to clean than the regular plastic bottles that are on the market. Diaper Bag: Due to their unusual shape they will not fit in some of the diaper bags out there. I got one from Skip Hop and both of them fits perfectly, no problem there, if I still were using my first born diaper bag from 3 yr ago it definitely wouldn't have fit. Leak: I read posts stating that they had leakage with Comotomo, you will have leak with any of them if they are not assembled properly, I did not have any issues with both brands, except if you hold a Comotomo upside down you will get few drops out of the nipple, it won't happen with Boon, my tests were made with water and not milk or formula, as soon as my baby is born and using one or the other I'll make an update on this matter, since the viscosity of the other liquids are different from water. But let's be honest... why would anybody put a bottle upside down with no cap inside a diapper bag, plus they don't stand upside down on a flat surface anyway, not even with the cap due to their design. So no worries in there! Update: does not leak with breast milk or formula. My is been fed with both, no issues there. Breast pump: Comotomo has adapters from Papablic ( you can buy from Amazon) and you can pump breast milk straight on the bottle if you are using a spectra S2 plus, my case. I can not say for others breast pump brands. Overall, both of them are fine choices and great gifts for baby showers! You also can find nipples to buy at Target stores if you have an emergency for both brands. On the field of colic reduction I'll do an update later once my baby is here. Update: After 1 month of use .. Boom: no issues with air intake, but requires a lot of "preparation". Note that the silicone pouch won't collapse if it is not properly in the plastic holder or if you baby isn't latch right on the nipple. I had both issue before. If you take the bottle out of the baby's mouth before the feeding is done to burp, once the pouch is collapsed, it will fill with air again and your baby will get extra air intake. Not good for bottle warmer Comotomo: the best choice so far, reduce the air intake, good for bottle warmers and no extra "preparation" as boon

Hopefully, THIS review will help 'debunk' some of the good and bad reviews!!!
Color: Green
Size: 8 Ounce (Pack of 2)
First off, this is hands-down my favorite purchase for my formula-fed son! 10/10! He was a VERY gassy baby before the bottle purchase, who was also already on sensitive formula prior to treat his gas. Here are a few of the most common complaints I read about the bottles prior to our purchase: Tip over easily/ top heavy; egg shape is poor design; hard to open and close; leaking; air valves sticking shut; difficult to read measurements... despite these complaints we decided to try them and here is our thoughts!! The reviews stating that the egg-shaped design is simply for aesthetic appeal and not practical are simply missing the big picture! The tapered design is necessary for accurate ounce measurements while accounting for the shape of the large nippletop! Sure a cylinder shaped bottle may not weeble wobble but if you don't mind taking an extra 0.3 seconds to set the bottle down up right you will have no problems at all! The soft squishy bottle reviewers are stating is very difficult to open and close, I myself have had no problems... I simply cup my hand around the solid rim of the top of the silicone bottle while opening and closing. That's squishy design is very clever in my opinion! It is designed to replicate a mother's breast along with the large, wide nipple top. This makes for a much easier transition for a breastfed baby to a bottle because the silicone is squishy and feels like a mother's full breast well the nipple is wider and larger like a real breast and they don't have to change their latching technique. My son was never breastfed and he has had no problems transitioning from a normal typical bottle top to the larger wider nipple... If anything, it has helped enormously because he naturally and instinctually opens wider for a breast, and when he nursed a normal bottle you would hear suckling sounds from the corners of his mouth while latching... Which ultimately was just additional air intake for my already gassy baby!! The valves on the nipple are what caught my attention the most. They're designed to let air in the bottle so that there is a consistent flow of milk without the disruption of collapsing a bottle we're pulling the bottle away to relieve the suction. For us, the valves worked as advertised! We have had no issues with the valves being stuck closed with clumps of milk or sticking together.. perhaps this is because we are using formula? Or maybe thoroughly cleaning or bottles and valves? I am unsure because we have had no issues whatsoever!!! Also, we have had no issues whatsoever with leaking. There was one user error where I did not insert the nipple in the collar straight which resulted in minor leaking but I open the bottle, closed it again, and everything was fine. We have had no leaks from the valves... Maybe this is caused by people inserting a cleaning brush into them and they are becoming misshapened?? Perhaps just a faulty nipple?? The other biggest complaint I read which concerning the ounce measurements on the side of the bottle. Some reviewers stated they were difficult to read and or did not like the fact that there was only measurements on one side of the bottle. All of the other bottles I have used, including common types like Medela, have all had only one measurement bar on the entire bottle. To me this is not a huge deal because you just turn the bottle and it's right there!! I can understand how measurements could be difficult to see, since the bottle of silicone and not plastic, the measurements are molded into the side of the silicone bottle rather than printed measurements like the Medela bottles. this is also not been a big deal to me because let's remember mommies and daddies out there, this bottle is designed to help our babies eat better, more comfortably, without gas and colic! So ultimately I do not mind looking at the bottle, placing my thumb near the ounce mark I'm wanting to use ( which I also made a habit of doing on my bottles that were plastic and printed) in order to use it as a filling guide for milk or water levels.. hopefully this helps some of you out there debating whether or not to make the investment. The price is significantly more expensive then a typical bottle but for our situation it was worth every penny because our baby is so much more comfortable and we were able to see a difference in our sons gassiness immediately!!! My opinion: take the plunge and invest! I will do my best to make time and record/ upload a video review!

Best bottles in every way
Color: Pink
Size: 8 Ounce (Pack of 2)
I can’t recommend these bottles enough - Godsend. I only wish I had discovered these bottles sooner. My baby took to the nipple so easily too! Such a relief! We have had zero problems with leaking. We used Dr. Brown’s glass and plastic bottles. The plastic bottles were light weight and our daycare did not allow glass bottles. The benefit of having glass was mainly to avoid microplastics but you can’t avoid plastic with the other parts the Dr. Browns bottles have. They are so heavy too and feeding my girl every 1.5- 2 hrs became painful on my wrist and thumb. Also they are SO time consuming to wash. We dreaded “bottle service” because of all the tiny parts that had to be carefully washed. A pain in the butt! These bottles solved every problem. They are so light weight, a breeze to clean due to the wide neck, are soft and durable, and best of all the high grade silicone material contains no BPA, PVC, and phthalates. I won’t be concerned when my girl begins to hold her own bottle soon about her dropping or breaking a glass bottle or having to hold such a heavy bottle! The dual anti-colic vents are effective too without being a hassle to clean! We warm these bottles in our bottle warmer under the silica setting so an 8 oz bottle takes about 8 minutes to warm. Not a big deal. The website says to replace the bottles every 6 months but with daily use this isn’t an inconvenience either. Keep in mind because it’s such a wide mouth bottle the milk won’t fill the nipple unless you place it at a ~70 degree angle or so to get every last drop. My baby doesn’t mind. Something else to mention is if you don’t wash the vents properly the bottle may collapse when your baby suckles. So, if this happens to you don’t be alarmed. Just make sure to run water into the vents after washing the nipple and it won’t happen.

The BEST!!!
Our son really likes this. We're tried Dr. Brown's glass bottle, Breastflow, Born Free glass bottle, and this is the best! Here are some cool things about this bottle: 1. Not like other bottles, your milk does not get stuck anywhere in the bottle so there's no waste. Many bottles have "shoulders" so your milk can get stuck there. When you use the Breastflow bottle, the milk just get stuck in the nipple and our son can't get the last 0.5 oz out. You don't have this problem with the Comotomo bottles. 2. It's very easy to clean. You don't need brushes. We use the Born Free brushes (BTW, it's my favorite) to clean them since we already have them at home to clean our BornFree bottles. 3. It shapes like a breast so our son latches really well. When we were using the Dr. Brown's bottle, he has difficulty switching back and forth. Breastflow, Born Free, and Comotomo do not have this issue. 4. It's made of silicone instead of plastic. We don't want to use plastic. Breastflow bottles were just a temporary thing because he was getting frustrated with the Dr. Brown's bottle. We switched from Breastflow to BornFree and he likes the BornFree bottles. However, now he's getting older, I'm concerned that it may be difficult for him to hold his bottle one day. Glass bottles just don't seem that safe for babies to hold. I did some research online and found that silicone can be an alternative. It's safe and unbreakable. 5. The flow is very slow and our nanny said that when he falls asleep while feeding, the milk doesn't overflow his mouth (great to prevent ear infection). 6. At first I was concerned that it can tip over easily but than we realized that it does not leak even if you do so. 7. The cap seals off the nipple really well so you don't need a "travel cap" like most bottles do. One less thing to worry about. When we are out and about, sometimes I don't know what to do with the travel cap. Where should I put it? On the table in a restaurant? After we feed him the bottle, if he finishes it's easy, just put the cap back. But if doesn't finish the bottle, I don't want to put the travel cap back after leaving it on the table. So I ended up holding the bottle in my hand until we get home. Comotomo bottle does not have this problem, you just put the cap back and it's sealed again. Overall, whoever designed it really knows what he/she was doing and they really took care of the disadvantages of most bottles on the market. I just hope that they go on sale some day so we can purchase some more! The only problem with this bottle is that it's expensive, but I would say that you get what you pay for! If I hadn't bought 3 BornFree bottles already, I would buy more of these Comotomo bottles.

Excellent bottle: Better mimics nursing with innovative shape, feel & true slow-flow nipple
When I first started looking into bottles for my exclusively breast-fed baby, I had a lot of reservations about possible problems I might encounter, from nipple confusion to nursing strikes. We didn't introduce a bottle to our little guy, who is now about 4.5 months old, until he was a little over 2 months old -- and he only gets a bottle when absolutely necessary (which is maybe a couple of ounces once or twice a day at the babysitter's, as I'm able to come nurse him every day at lunch). I had read lots of info about techniques for introducing a bottle to a breast-fed baby, and on things you want to look for in a bottle (slow-flow nipples are one major criterion), I can now report that we've been very pleased with the Comotomo bottle, 4-ounce size. I love the hand-feel of it -- which is pliable, similar to an actual breast (though not flimsy) -- and the wide mouth, both for my son to flange his lips as he would on the breast AND for ease of pouring in milk that I've pumped. I purchased two of these, along with two of the 4-oz LifeFactory bottles with slow-flow nipples, so we could have two different brands to try and see which my son would prefer. I really wanted BOTH brands to work, because I liked innovative shape and texture of the Comotomo, which more closely replicates the feel of baby's hands on the breast when he has to take the bottle. But I also liked the idea of a fully inert substance like glass, and we have LifeFactory water bottles for ourselves. The Comotomo has been much more successful, however, in part because the slow-flow nipple actually flows MUCH more slowly than the LifeFactory's. I had read about differences in what "slow-flow" could really mean -- but I was very surprised by just how *fast* milk comes out of the LifeFactory bottles' slow-flow nipples. My husband and I did a side-by-side comparison with water in the bottles, and the Lifefactory bottles are like a fast-dripping leaky sink faucet, with liquid coming out at least twice as fast as in the Comotomo. I think that, combined with the narrower base of the Lifefactory bottle, conspired to cause my little guy to choke and gag when we tried to feed him from the LifeFactory bottle. The Comotomo bottle, by contrast, worked from the first try -- though warning to other mothers out there who are trying to exclusively breastfeed, and use bottles as little as possible: The very first time my son got the bottle, he took it and drank from it without a problem for about 5+ minutes -- but then he started really crying, and I had to nurse him. I think it was because he realized something about that special ritual of nursing was different. However, that was the only time it happened ... He'll take a bottle, though he doesn't prefer it, and he usually drinks just enough to tide him over until I'm back to nurse him again. But for all the reasons I mentioned -- the unique shape and feel of the Comotomo, which makes the experience a bit closer to being at the breast; the slow-flow nipples that actually ARE slow-flow; the wide base and opening -- I've been very happy with the Comotomo, and it's the only bottle I've been using. The cap also clicks on easily (and stays on well, but is also easy to get off -- another peccadillo with the LifeFactory, which I feel I have to press down really hard to click on). We do plan to keep the LifeFactory bottles, though, and use them once my son has started drinking other liquids, as you can swap out the nipple top for a sippee-style top. I don't think Comotomo has such an option (though I'm not sure).

So far my favorite bottle when I am able to open it.
Color: Pink
Size: 5 Ounce (Pack of 2)
I have tried a few different bottles and almost all of them leak in some way except for this one. It's not leak proof but I do not need to keep a cloth under the bottle when I am feeding. I love how well my daughter latches to it and it has helped her get more practice at latching for when my wife breastfeeds her so in that regard it has been a life saver and I would encourage anybody who is having problems with latching give it a shot. It is easy to hold and I like that it has a soft body however my daughter is too young to hold her own bottle so that feature no real benefit outside of neat aesthetics. The numbers are difficult to read in low light ( when I am often feeding her ) and given the shape of the bottle it is not easy to get an accurate reading so I can track how much she has eaten. However... my biggest problem with this bottle is the lid. I am a fairly large guy and I train my grip strength and I still have almost no luck opening these one handed while I am carrying my daughter at night when the bottle is wet with condensation from the fridge. The wide cone shape makes them nearly impossible to open for most people even with two hands and the lack of any sort of lip or cutout means you will often need to use your nails or some object to help pry it open. There are two indentions on the lid but they offer no additional leverage so they are essentially useless. It makes for some frustrating moments when I am fumbling in the dark with a moist bottle trying to pry it open one handed while she is flailing in my other arm. For the record this is the only bottle I own with this issue. I do really like these and intend to keep using them. I just have to make sure to preopen the bottles before bed time or just leave them uncovered which I do not like.

Fantastic bottle, with one small heads-up...
Color: Green
Size: 5 Ounce (Pack of 2)
After trying several different brands and types of baby bottles, this one is the winner by a long shot. In summary, they have the magic combination of being both vented AND easy to clean. Let me explain... Due to some challenges with nursing we have been feeding our little one exclusively from bottles (with pumped breast milk), so we have had plenty of opportunity to try different bottles! The first bottles we used were non-venting, which turned out to be a big mistake. By the time our little one was a few weeks old she had developed such a strong suck that she would create a vacuum inside inside the bottle as she drank, which would cause the nipple slowly to collapse. Several times each feeding we would have to pull the nipple gently to one side of her mouth to break the seal and allow the nipple to re-expand. Obviously these mid-feed interruptions did not make her happy! Next we tried a well-known brand of vented bottles which vent via a thin tube that extends all the way down through the center of the bottle. Although these bottles solved the suction problem, each one had four separate pieces, two of which contained tiny internal tubes. Cleaning all these small parts was cumbersome to say the least, and the thought of doing it multiple times per day filled me with a sense of despair I just couldn’t shake. There had to be a vented bottle that wasn’t so difficult to clean! Enter the Comotomo bottle (accompanied by rays of sunshine and a renewed sense of hope). This was the answer! What makes this bottle so great? 1. The bottle is vented very simply, via two tiny “valves” on the sides of the nipple, so the whole bottle has just THREE pieces: the bottle itself, a nipple, and a plastic ring which secures the nipple to the bottle. No small parts to get lost! 2. The wide-mouth design and lack of tiny tubes make these VERY easy to clean. 3. The lightly textured silicone body has a non-slip quality which makes the bottle easy to grip. 4. They don’t leak (at least, WE have never had a problem with them leaking) 5. They have a cool, modern design (this is subjective and a matter of opinion, but still…). I can really only find one “negative” to these bottles, and it’s really not so much a fault but rather a characteristic due to their shape. As the bottle’s contents are being consumed, if the bottle is held at a 45-degree angle or so, the last bit of liquid will pool at the top-side of the bottle instead of flowing into the nipple (see my photo). This isn’t a big deal, as all you have to do is tilt the bottle more upright briefly and the liquid will move into the nipple, but it is something to watch as the bottle gets close to empty. Oh, and it’s not obvious from the product photos, but these bottles DO have volume markings on them. They are inconspicuous but still easy to read. We are VERY happy with these bottles.

Really works as nice as they look!
I have now had these bottles for my twins for a number of months, we just seem to like them more and more. Other brands I have personally used are Dr. Brown's Natural Flow 4oz Wide Neck Bottles-2 Pack wide base (too much to clean, bottle larger than usable space to allow for vent design, just ended up very bulky) Tommee Tippee 3-pack Closer to Nature Bottle 5oz (mostly nice, but "shoulder" on bottle trapped a lot of milk making it hard to feed it all without a lot of tipping and finesse and lack of grip on lid makes it very hard to open) Comotomo bottles look and feel very well made and fit together nicely. thankfully they are actually low flow, so many brands claim they are and aren't! These feel good in my hand and the babies even seem to like placing there hands on them, I am guessing they will be easy for them to hold in the near future. (update, they now love to hold them and have no problem feeding themselves.) Lid snaps on well and seems to seal great, i could not make these leak in the lid or around the screw lid, its seals up to the silicone tight! Nipple locks into outer ring tightly and would be hard to get on wrong. The frosted silicone is very grippy on the body of the bottle and is thicker and firmer on the top two thirds of it to give structure and thinner on the bottom third for squeeze-ability, someone really thought it out. I have training in Industrial Design and i have to say I'm very impressed how they addressed nearly all my issues with bottles. Biggest selling points for me were: *Breastfeeding compatible nipple (as much as there ever is) *Milk not being trapped in the bottle (i pump breast milk and it is too precious to waste) *Easy to clean (i have newborn twins i do not need more hassle) and *Good looks (might seem silly but bottle feeding is already a drag, something stylish rather than clinical makes me smile) Pros: *Truly low flow nipple *Clean design that lets you wash it really easy, no bottle brush, my hand and a sponge fit in fine and there are no fussy undercuts to wash around (a big issue with Dr. Browns bottles) *Good nipple shape for breastfed babies or anyone for that matter *2 vents built into nipple to let air back in and reduce vacuum that can lead to ear pain and bubbles *No loud branding, brand name is only in frosted letters on bottle, very low key *Volume measurements molded into the frosted silicone bottle, can not wear off (slightly hard to read) *Shape allows all the milk to drain into the nipple easily, no "shoulder" on the bottle *Different colored rings on each bottle lets you designate one for each child (I have twins) or for different uses? *Soft silicone body lets you give a little squeeze for sleepy babies or newborns just figuring it out *Tab on lid ring makes for easy unscrewing (a big problem with TommeeTippee brand) Cons: *Pricy (but I think worth it, and how many do you really need after all?) *Might tip over a bit easy (but they don't seem to leak) *Color of lid rings are pink and green, I think it would be smarter to have non sex associated colors I have B/G twins so it works out, but something more neutral than pink would be better for most folks) *Volume marking can be hard to read, they are frost on a clear background, no color *Too wide for my Dr Browns bottle warmer, I'm guessing other brands as well (it fits if I remove the inner basket, but that causes other issues)
