EDIT: 8 JULY 2023 The third picture is what this review update is all about. That was our average steps for the past days while speed running through Hongkong’s sights. There were days where we walked 25,000-26,000 steps. Definitely not for the faint of legs and knees. But you know what? We didn’t get a single blister, sore/ foot/ankle pain. And we owe it to the most comfortable hiking shoes ever. My partner also bought his pair (last pic) and it arrived a day before the trip. We highly recommend this pair if you’re up to serious hiking miles (although we’re skeptical using this on tropical jungle hikes). ********************************************************** This is my second pair of Newton Ridge. I bought my first one in our local Columbia store. I’ve tried different pairs of hiking shoes/boots over the years and this by far is the most comfortable. The sizing is just right-with enough room for a good pair of socks and ample space for my toes. After two years of use, my first pair showed the wrinkles stated by some of reviewers here. When I brought up this issue in our local Columbia store, I was advised of a specific shoe care kit for leather boots, that I can buy from any leather shoe store. Hopefully this pair will last longer than the previous one. Generally, a well-rounded hiking boot. Although, I’m a bit apprehensive wearing these on a wet and muddy tropical jungle trek.

Got these to wear island camping with my bf, we had to kayak there and live on the island and beaches for the weekend. These shoes held up amazingly. I wish I had broken them in prior but that’s on me. Besides occasionally folding and rubbing in the wrong place these shoes did amazingly. The water didn’t even bother me too much either. I do recommend a good sock with them though. Also I am usually a 6.5-7 depending on the shoe. The reviews had me panicking that I would order the wrong ones. I ended up going with the 6.5 wide and they fit perfectly.

Like: Like Very Much. * Very Light, very comfortable, nice looking, classic looking (SOME BRAND boots look scary). * The whole time (9-mile hiking), felt comfortable. * My feet don't look big (I like shoes that make my feet look small and slim, these are the shoes). * I got realized the good hiking boots make big differences for comfortable or not. * I normally wear 6M or 6W. But for hiking boots, I ordered 6.5W (I have round toes and wide feet), and they are perfect. My toes didn't have to be curled up or squeezed in. * Prior to these hiking boots I felt so tired after hiking; but w/these boots, I still felt full of energy. * Also I tried several good brand hiking shoes and boots, they were all so uncomfortable. * Shoe laces stayed being tied the whole hiking time (I didn't have to stop and retie). * My co-hiker liked my boots and she will get one too. ** Plus the low ankle hiking shoes (not boots) rubbed my ankles. So if you experience the problem as well, I recommend boots. Dislike: No dislike, only hope they make more pretty colors. I wanted and liked a lot of Ash Gray w/RIP Tides, but they were all sold out.

As advertized, this hiking boots are well thought and manufactured. The size is a tiny bit larger but it is good to insert my ortotics. They seem to promise a long longevity and the day I wore them they felt confortable. They are on the hot side, so maybe once the hot temps are finish they will be perfect for long hikes. Pakaging is perfect. Prompt delivery so I may purchase more in the future from this seller.

It took me 5 pairs before I finally got the right size for these. Most Columbia boots run small and narrow. I know this because I own two different types of Columbia snow boots. They are the only brand I wear for snow/winter for the last 20 - 30 years. I bought these assuming they would also run small, big mistake. If you buy the right size, when you put these on, you won’t want to take them off because they are that comfortable. I normally wear 9-9.5 medium width shoes. I purchased a 10 wide, a half size up from my usual shoe size range, to allow for my feet to have plenty of room with hiking socks and because the toes are on my right feet do not lay flat like my left foot. Your toes should not feel squished in any shoe. I got wide because Columbia are usually on the narrow side. My left foot is a medium width (almost narrow) and my right foot is medium width (almost wide). I also purchased Columbia hiking socks which feel amazing in these boots. Quarry is a very pretty grey color with black, light grey and blue accents. Such a pretty color combination. I will be wearing these to walk our dog on the trails in our neighborhood, which I do daily and are often swampy and even flooded in some areas. I was previously using my Brooks Ghost sneakers but too often coming home with mud, wet socks and saturated shoes. We mostly do trails but also mix in some sidewalk walking, so I needed a shoe that would be good on both. I will come back to update my review should they not work well. Super excited to wear them tomorrow on our morning walk through the woods. Update: 2/20/23 I wore these yesterday for a 3 mile walk/hike through trails and on sidewalks walking a dog. They felt great while walking. I did notice that when I took them off, that my one hammer toe had redness from the top of the boots while walking but I never felt this while on the walk. A few hours later and my left knee has some strange pain while going up or down stairs. Next thing I noticed was some lower back pain and pain at the balls of both feet when I woke up this morning. Not sure that I will be wearing these often, maybe only on rainy days, but even then, I am not sure that the pain is worth it. I do have psoriatic arthritis in my knees but this pain is different, so I must have aggravated my knee somehow while wearing these hiking shoes. Debating on returning them because my brooks sneakers work great but I was specifically looking for waterproof and ankle support while on the trails. Update: 2/28/23 I have worn these again and had success, no knee or back pain afterward. Not my favorite shoe for walking our dog on sidewalks and not as comfortable as my Brooks but they are waterproof and are saving me in the trails right now.

I love the color. I wear them as day shoes at work during the cold months as I am outdoors for a part of the day and they keep my feet warm and dry. This summer I wore them hiking in the Porkies and they were perfect navigating rough and muddy terrain. This is my second pair. The first lasted about 3 years of continuous wear.
