Top Amazon Reviews

  • A non-hiker's first boots
Size: 11 Wide Color: Black, Golden Yellow
To preface my review, I have never hiked before ever in my life until this past weekend when I visited Utah. I am not an active person outside of walking my dog 3x a day for roughly 20min each walk. I bought these boots ahead of time in preparation for the trip and spent a few days walking around in them to get used to it. I saw another review mention the pinching at the toes crease and I only had that issue on the right boot for some reason. The left boot was perfect right out of the box. As I walked I paid attention to where the crease happened on the left foot versus the right and they seemed to crease in different places so I spent time manually bending the toebox on the right boot so make the bend in the crease occur closer to how the left boot creases. I also doubled up on socks on the rest of my walks to further break it in and that helped tremendously. I used these boots on Fernwood and Adam's Canyon Trail in Layton, UT. Although I was certainly tired after the hike, these boots really kept me going through all the dirt, rocks, creeks (no wet socks here!) and overall my feet were painfree aside from soreness that's to be expected because of my low activity level. There are plenty of times I think I would have rolled my ankle or slipped if I'd been wearing regular shoes, but not in these bad boys thanks to the ankle height. They really held up well, from a newbie perspective. Very supportive, they feel durable, they gave me great traction when climbing up rocky portions. I normally wear an 11, I ordered an 11W to account for socks and feet swelling. Overall, I'm impressed! ... show more

  • Lightweight but tough!
Size: 7.5 Wide Color: Quarry, Cool Wave
I wanted a lightweight waterproof boot for work and these are great! They were put through their paces (pun intended) in puddles, mud and snow for 50+ hours a week and stayed waterproof for 318 days! I bought another pair to have on hand for the day my old ones finally gave in thankfully! If you look at the pictures, you can see the before and after. Yes, I swear they are the same color (quarry/cool wave)! These are not a replacement for a safety toe thick-soled type work boot, but I wanted something that was waterproof and felt more like a tennis shoe because I have an active job. My husband has a pair and he likes them too. I will be buying these again...again! ... show more

  • The Cozy Companios of my Northern Michigan Adventure!
Size: 8 Color: Elk, River Blue
I recently put these boots through their paces during a week-long adventure in Northern Michigan, and let me tell you, they left a trail of coziness and style in their wake. I didn't have to break them in at all! From day one, it was like slipping my feet into warm, fluffy clouds. I was on my feet for hours each day, running around and hiking in various terrains, and not a single blister or sore spot to complain about. It was like they were made specifically for my feet! Michigan weather can be as unpredictable as a toddler's mood, but these boots handled it like a pro. Rain, mud, chilly mornings were no match for the Newton Ridge boots. My feet stayed dry and warm, making every step of my adventure enjoyable, no matter the weather. After my traveling escapades, I found myself wearing them on the flight back to California. Yes, I got some puzzled looks from fellow passengers as I strutted through the airport in my hiking boots. So, if you ever find yourself wondering why someone's wearing boots in 80+ degree weather, just remember that it might be the Newton Ridge boots, and they're worth every curious glance! Who says boots are only for the trail? With these beauties, you can take your comfort and style to the skies! ... show more

  • Almost perfect!
Size: 10.5 Color: Elk, River Blue
I love the way these look & feel (for the most part). The color I bought is made with a material that's like a thin bendy faux leather. It bends at the toe and stabs my toe with every step I take which is very uncomfortable. If that didn't happen, these would be the best! But, for $60 I didn't expect them to be perfect. I kept them anyway, they have lasted me a lot of hikes so far and still look like new. Maybe if I wear super thick cushion socks it won't hurt as much. This could just be my experience, as I don't see many others complaining about it. Still worth a try if you're on the fence! ... show more

  • Didn't have to brake them in *Update:size up and go wide
Size: 11 Color: Quarry, Cool Wave
Hiked Shirley canyon trail to high camp without having to brake them in. I usually wear a size 10 in tennis shoes/sneakers/boots but opted for 11 since I knew I'd be wearing thick socks and have been prone to swelling after flights or in high elevation. I order up in anything with a heel or potentially narrow like running shoes or cowboy boots because I also have wide feet. I had no pain whatsoever in my feet and this was my first real hike. Shirley trail is about 5 miles to high camp and took about 3.5 hours with stops and mostly steep inclines/climbing. I am not someone who is active really by any means but don't work a desk job either and have sciatica. These shoes did not flare up my sciatica and were comfy the entire hike and then some. Didn't come across too much moisture during the hike but held their own walking across streams on some low rocks but never fully submerged or to cover top of foot so I couldn't tell you how well they'd do. 10 out of 10 for easy to moderate hikes /climbing. Update: So for short easy hikes I had zero problems however I just hiked Havasupai and all the falls and had significant blistering on my toes just from the first 10 mile hike down. Couldn't wear them after that and finished the rest of the hikes in some water shoes that have the toes and were a sixe up from my normal size to give plenty of toe room even after wrapping all my toes that were blistered. I should have bought the boots in a wide as well as going a size up because apparently the toe box was just small enough to cause blistering so severe I lost 3 toenails. ... show more

  • Worn once so far but super comfortable!
Size: 9.5 Color: Black, Poppy Red
I got these for a first time trip to Yosemite, and when I tell you i only worn them for about 6 hours but they were super comfortable! The size I chose was perfect as I have longer feet than wider feet, and the cushion in the soles make it feel like your feet are contouring with the land instead of just trying to step over it. I would 10/10 recommend! I'll update my review the next time I use these for any outdoor activities. 11/8/2023 ... show more
