  • Its lightweight and priced right.
People are complaining about the elastic breaking due to heat. If you cook over a big fire than sure you could get the legs hot and melt the cords. But I cook over coals produced from standard store bought firewood so the heat is pretty localized and "small". Set the legs as far out as they can go and you probably won't have a problem with melting. But even if I do. The poles have indents that lock the poles together so its really not an issue... the grill is a bit weak but it looks like it would just bend under a large load and not break. Easy to upgrade... would still be cheaper than a more expensive option.... Basically, this thing is just fine doing most everything you would cook over a fire.... but if your life revolves around cooking stew from a 5gal cast iron pot over a huge fire with a wooden spoon.... it will fail. ... show more

  • The perfect thing to finish off your barbeque
super simple to assemble! We loved it. It's tall and grills the meat perfectly

  • Easy fire cooking
Easy to use and set up. Very stable for cooking over a fire, and it looks nice. Always get asked where I got it. Very easy to clean and put away. Love it!

  • Good, but pole cord broke
Works great, but one of the cords broke with only the second use. If that had not happend it would have had a 5 star review. Thankfully, the pole pieces attach with a locking twist, so setting up was still easy. We got it to use as a cooking surface with our new propane firepit and the sausages came out fantastic. I made a storage bag for it since a trashbag is not strong enough for the heavy duty pole pieces. To have it come with a durable bag would have been nice. All said, it was a great addition to our camping equipment. ... show more

  • Very handy
Ok so I am just going to make a couple of points that I didn't see covered in other reviews. This is a great grill for fire grilling. It does not need to be precariously balanced on rocks and logs, it does not require level ground, and unlike other grills it is infinatly adjustable. Have you ever had a perfect bed of coals not last long enough to grill your food? Then your grill goes cold or you add wood and your grill is too hot. This grill adjusts up and down to accommodate for the constantly changing heat of a wood fire. Another thing is if your fire is cooking unevenly you can give this grill a gentle spin and it will spin back and forth over the flames giving all your food an even time over the hotter and cooler parts of your fire. Finally I would like to address all the peoples points about how it is difficult to flip your food because the grill swings when you try. Simply adjust your grill up until it is touching all three legs. The legs will steady your grill while you flip your food. Then adjust it back down to whatever height you were cooking at. And that is it. Lots of bang for a few bucks ... show more

  • chain suspension lacks stability
It converts my firepit into a grill as advertised. I just wish the grill was better stabilized. Suspending a grill by a chain causes unnecessary movement and rotation. If you prefer the stability of a real grill top where you care about hot and warm zones, find something else. EDIT: A year later, one of the ropes on a leg snapped. I read about this on other reviews. It'll still hold the grill, but now it won't fold neatly. ... show more

  • 7 reasons to get this
I like it. 1) grill grate is large enough for two packs of regular hot dogs or 8-12 burgers. 2) legs are strong as needed for this tripod. It's not meant for heavy Dutch ovens but more like a camp outing with family or friends. Shock cord type material keeps you from losing the leg sections. End of each leg is spear type point that you can push into the ground for more support 3) the chain and attachment sections are easy enuff to attach or detach 4) it's 5 lbs so it's probably not much for most hikers but if travel by car to your camp area or you use it in the back yard, then it's great little piece. 4) after cleaning the grill gate the tripod can used to hang light weight items such as lantern. Putting the grill gate back on after cleaning also gives you a table. . 5) with leg do And of 3 -4 feet across and holes in the top section pole holders, I could see this being used as emergency tepee style tarp shelter. 6) it's at a price that won't break the bank 7) galvanized steel should last quite a while. ... show more
