Waiting to hear back from Colavita USA to see if what I was sent and what is pictured on Amazon are one in the same. The pic and description clearly indicates Fruttato; what I received does not show that and the label is different. But if Colavita clears this up, I will change my rating. Really disappointed this has become a hassle. Okay. Colavita confirmed the label change so I finally opened the oil. Great. Love it. Fruity, smooth taste with a slightly peppery background! Stars added.

I love this stuff. It is authentic; the peppery bite in the back of the throat proves it. Only the highest quality EVOO has this. It is green, grassy, fruity and peppery. The less virgin it is, the less peppery and green it is. That is why the kind you cook with is yellow and bland and not peppery. The bite in it is a natural anti-inflammatory called Oleocanthal. This brand of olive oil has been very highly rated as far as what can be easily found at the grocery store. I currently have what was voted to be the best olive oil in the world 2012/2013, and another olive oil that was designed by a renowned olive oil expert, and from my experience as a lover of olive oil, I agree that the colavita brand is very good. I have this exact one, private reserve, but the one that was considered the best at the store was their more basic one, just evoo, first cold pressed. This has many of the characteristics of the more rare oils, the strong flavor, and acidity, the pungency, just not quite as much, which is probably good for most people. This is an affordable, great tasting oil, that is easy to find.

I have a bottle of this and I think it compares well to a lot of other high quality oils. It tastes great to me. I just recently started getting into extra virgin olive oil, but it's as good as I've tasted so far. As soon as I finish this bottle off I plan to try the California brand since a lot of people have good things to say about it. I disagree with the person that gave it one star. It "does" pass the refrigerator olive oil test. Mine fully solidified. I contacted the company by email and they responded that their EVOO is just that, no dilution with other oils, or anything else.
