I bought these glass mugs after using the Tervis mugs for 3 years on a daily basis. They were excellent as they retained heat. But, the Tervis mugs started making my hot drinks have a chemical taste- I think the mugs were degrading. Any case, these glass mugs keep my tea/coffee hot at least a good 15 minutes, if not longer. These cups are truly large. If you were to use them for tea (bagged), you could easily put two, or even three tea bags in your cup of boiling hot water. Standard cup size = 8 oz. This cup = 17 oz. These cups are double wall insulated, not vacuum insulated. Coffee/tea will stay pleasantly hot for longer, but not as long as a lidded vacuum insulated cup. But the insulation is good enough to hold the cup around the body of the cup without burning your fingers. I don't know how scratch resistant these cups are, but a set of "fancy" plastic spoons to stir your beverage may keep your cups looking new longer than a stainless spoon. ... show more

It is packaged very well. After I washed I used for coffee. Outside of mug stays cool and you can touch to steady with no problems. The handle opening is large and great for man hands. It is light weight and I would buy again. If you like glass or have never tried before, take the plunge!
