Good piece of gear for desktop grbl based CNC. I have a 3030-evo pro machine. After hours of Google and real world testing I wrote some gcode for custom user buttons that work with this offline controller, like Zprobe and Return to Origin. Would have been nice if I could have easily found this info upfront, so I'm going to post it for others to save you some hassle. File name and then The gcode the file contains. If you have a Z probe this code will perform that function: Cmd1_Zprobe.txt G21G91G38.2Z-50F200 G92Z(the height of your puck in mm goes here, no brackets) G0Z5 If your machine has limit switches and you've already homed the machine this code will bring you to the tables center (I have a 300mm X 300mm table): Cmd2_TableCenter.txt G53X-150Y-150Z-5F1200 This code will return the machine to where you set the works Zero datum: Cmd3_ZeroOrigin.txt G21G90G1X0Y0Z5F500 If your machine has limit switches and you've already homed the machine this code will bring the spindle upto the machines Z-5 position: Cmd4_Zsafe.txt G21G90G53G0Z-5 These all worked for me following the offline controller's manual to install. I am not certain what I expected so not sure if I was let down. The device came well packaged and is a nice size. It came supplied with an SD card to Micro SD card reader and the necessary cable to hook it up. My trouble with it is that when an alarm gets set ( limit switch tripped) it can't reset. Also the screen is not very bright an I have not found any adjustment for this. Plus, documentation, which is included, does not go into any depth as too possible problems, like this. ... show more

The CAMXTOOL CNC offline controller for GRBL boards has several nice features that are usually missing on similar generic offline controllers. The controller comes with a small 1Gb SD card, a long 2-foot connecting cable, and an SD card reader. It can be connected to your computer by Wi-Fi, eliminating the need to remove the SD card to transfer a file from your computer to the unit. The unit has an on/off switch. Unfortunately, this does not allow you to keep the offline controller plugged in while using the USB port on the GRBL controller. This is like other units. The display is a touchscreen LCD instead of a small LCD and physical buttons that units often have. This allows for a more flexibly styled interface and additional features. Finally, the unit has a way to create and use 7 additional g-code macro commands that you access from the keyboard. You must create the macros on your computer and then transfer the macro files to the SD card. This is an intriguing feature that I haven’t fully explored yet, but I do see potential on how it could be used. The only issue that I have had with this offline controller is the built-in Wi-Fi server is http instead of https. Some browsers, like Chrome, require you to take extra steps to access a http site due to “insecure data”. In that case, you need to whitelist the site. The site came up when I used the Bing browser without any issues. I have had no problem with the Wi-Fi reception of the server on the offline controller. I am successfully using this offline controller on my Comgrow ROBO CNC 3018 router loaded with GRBL version 1.1f. I like it better than the original offline controller that came with the machine. This is a nice improvement. I do believe that the maker should spend some time with the software of the onboard http server to make it https and use the on/off switch to fully isolate the serial port, but overall, I am happy with the product. ... show more

I was planning on using this on my Sainsmart CNC but it looks like I will be using it for a home built laser cutter/engraver. This little self contained unit is a Jewel. I have yet to actually put it to use but my initial impression is this unit is well built and is offered at a good price point. There are English's instructions with the unit. It comes in a non descript carboard box. A ribbon cable allows for easy hook up to any of the small CNCs offered by Sainsmart and the clones. This give you a larger control screen and better control over the stock control unit for sure. I am going to use this for a few weeks then come back with an update. For now I can say it is a good product and built well. How much better this is over a stock unit? We shall see! ... show more

This works fine on my 3020pro CNC. Controller board is pre wired for 8pin connector. I have a Genmitsu 4040 that uses a newer 10pin. Just make sure which connector yours has. It's worth a 5star for the 3020 when I don't feel like hauling a laptop back to my shop. Drop the file I want on the SD card(included). ... show more
