We assembled the shelving unit first, as per instructions, and were disappointed at how wobbly the shelf stood on its own. The adjustable feet were small for the height of the unit and seemed like they would not be supportive enough. I debated even finishing the install, but we needed to get the baby room all done (crunch time!). The sturdy but thin cardboard support corners on the back of the shelf unit were not super encouraging..... the drawers seemed to fit ok, but opened and closed very firmly- which didn’t work with the wobbly shelf. All of this said, we were proved pleasantly wrong and I am so happy we stuck with this shelf unit. We leveled off the standing shelf unit with the adjustable feet and started mounting and leveling the clothes rods- which was a breeze and the rods worked great! When the rods were in place, we mounted the shelves where we wanted them. The included shelf brackets were perfect and worked great. Immediately the unit all ‘came together’ and the mounting of the shelves to the back closet wall really secured the rest of the standing shelf unit. (We had our initial doubts) Once the individual shelves were secured to the wall, the standing part of the unit felt very solid- I’m not even sure if we’ll need to add any additional support brackets (which we considered)- and the drawers now opened and closed very nicely. We will probably add some glue or other adhesive to attach the adjustable shelves in the standing tower as the shelves slide off of the provided plastic clips very easily and this is the closet in our baby room... the sliding shelves are a pro or con depending on how you plan to use this system. Our closet spaces are small, and I would recommend this unit to help organize and make the most of your space. The price was reasonable and the unit really helps organize your things while being totally adjustable. We will probably order a second unit for our other bedroom now. I’m not sure how the rod jointing system would hold up over time with a lot of clothing or heavy items hanging on them in a larger closet where they would be expanded further to use the space. I might add a middle support arm to each rod if you are expanding them to full width. Overall, a great system! ... show more

Product itself is 5 stars. 4 stars for the shipping and how many times I’ve had to ask for replacements due to missing or damaged parts. The product is insanely easy to assemble and install. I’ve got very limited experience with tools and construction in general. I can successfully assemble ikea products and this closet organizer is the same difficulty as assembling an ikea product. It looks great in my home and organizes my clothes well. It also holds a lot. I have about 150 pieces of clothing ranging from t shirts to heavy duty coats hanging and the bars are holding nicely with no bed. The drawers hold a lot of items as well. I recommend this for anyone looking for a semi budget closet solution. ... show more

So pleased with this system. I got it as a gift for my younger sister to redo her closet and we did the whole job ourselves. The directions are clear and thorough, assembling and mounting the main shelving unit was really easy, no issues here. It just got a little finicky when mounting the rods. We have a smaller closet so I had to cut the rods to fit, my dad's old metal hacksaw was dull so it took a lot of good old fashioned elbow grease! TIP: if cutting the rods by hand, choose the smaller inner rods because they're easier to cut. The only important detail I think the directions left out: when measuring, you need to take into account about 1/4inch on each side for the rod bracket. Yea, I had to recut the rod a few times. I was cursing a lot at this step. Also you'll probably need to cut the top and middle shelves for a small closet. A table saw would be ideal, or some more elbow grease. Prepare for this. Overall, she's in love with her new closet, our family's impressed. Great price for a little weekend project. Thumbs up! ... show more

Product is basic but is functional. Instructions were a bit confusing as pieces came in 2 boxes so we weren’t sure if they needed mixing.. nothing was labeled and some cutting was required for the top shelf as the standard step in width is 72”; top shelf covers 96”. Drawer edges were mangled and shelf board collapsed quickly, so we flipped it around to hide under the top shelf. Took 1 day to figure out pieces and disassemble the old closet (paint, caulk/patch), and another full day to install everything with 2 people. ... show more

The box it was delivered in looked like it went straight through all 7 rings of Hell and back and once opened, I discovered that all of the hardware was missing from the shipment. While annoying, contacting ClosetMaid directly via email for replacement hardware was a fairly easy and straightforward process. They handled the matter without any games or Mikey Mouse BS, and were prompt about it. I like the system itself, so if you get it and you like it, but the hardware is missing, I think it’s worth reaching out to them to make it right. ... show more
