    • Suggest strongly that TWO people assemble this, but it's a nice piece.

The two main reasons this got 4 stars instead of 5 are these: 1. It was NOT "easy" for one person to assemble this being that every time you had a dowel or two in place to secure each section, the whole thing would shimmy apart again. Very frustrating. A second person helping to hold it together while the other person pushes the pieces together is ideal. 2. There IS a backing that matches the wood pattern of the piece BUT.... it's only for show and made of flimsy cardboard. Just blowing on it, now assembled, makes the backing wobble. Our concern is if it bulges or warps, it could cause it to bulge so far away from the main piece that it will look cheesy. We would have much rather preferred a thin piece of particle board to adhere more securely to the back of it. We're probably going to secure the cardboard - with great care - to the horizontal pieces of the organizer in hopes that it will be better secured and less likely to bulge. Cardboard al most never keeps its original shape unless pressed against a glass frame etc. This has nothing to press against except on each far side. *The color is as shown - very pretty aesthetically. We like the weathered gray look. *It stands up well either vertically or horizontally. We chose the horizontal position for safety reasons and how it fits in with our dรฉcor. *It's holding a good number of books in 4 of the 6 cubicles - some books are heavy - I corned the books in the cubicles so the whole piece was well balanced though. * It arrived quickly and in good shape. I have used these in the past. They look good. They are great, if it didn't receive any damage in shipping. Mine had a little bit of damage in the back, but is not noticeable. They should package product better. After all it is just compressed sawdust. I took off one star because it should have better packaging. ... show more

I got the 6 cube to use for my record player and to store records. 12" albums fit perfectly. The top has enough room for my turntable and small stereo. It was easy to assemble. Would buy it again. The black walnut looks good for "fake" wood, doesn't look cheesy.

I ordered the black walnut because it was half the price of the other 2 colors and the actual color wasn't that important. There seem to be a few "imperfections" in this particular piece and I wonder if that's why its price was reduced. 1) On the front edge there is an area that isn't colored (see photo). I put that side on the floor and I have a black walnut furniture marker so that will hopefully blend in so it's not as noticeable. 2) There are several scratches/nicks on the inside of the cubes but I have storage boxes in the cubes so those are not a big deal and I can touch them up. 3) As for the assembly, two of the holes for the cam posts were not properly lined up so it was a bit of a struggle to get it together. All in all, for the price, it will do just fine. If it was full price I would send it back. ... show more
