    • Good Precision, but Don't Expect a Lather
I have mixed feelings about the Joseph Signature Line Clear Shave Gel. While it certainly has its benefits for specific grooming needs, it’s a major departure from what most people would consider "normal" shaving gel. The Good: Perfect for Edging: Because the formula is completely transparent, it’s excellent for detail work. If you’re lining up a beard or mustache, being able to see exactly where the blade meets the skin is a huge plus. Quality Ingredients: I appreciate the inclusion of Aloe Vera and the fact that it’s paraben-free. It feels much cleaner and more natural on the skin than a lot of other brands. Cooling Effect: It definitely has a hydrating, cooling feel that helps soothe the skin during the shave. The Not-So-Good: Zero Lather: If you are used to the thick, foamy lather of a traditional gel or cream, you will be disappointed. This product does not lather up at all. Even when using a shaving brush or trying to work it in with water, it stays in a thin, jelly-like state. Soap-Like Texture: Rather than a slick, cushiony gel, it actually feels more like shaving with a bar of soap. It provides a decent glide, but it lacks the "body" that protects against nicks if you have a particularly heavy or coarse beard. Learning Curve: I found I had to use more product than expected to keep the surface slick enough for my razor. Final Verdict: This is a professional-quality tool for precision and detailing, but if you’re looking for a rich, foaming experience for a full face or head shave, this might not be for you. Ordered the shave gel for home use and am glad I tried it at home where I had alternatives when this one failed. Package arrives with the shave gel bottle and a 2 oz. measuring cup for some reason. Not sure if accidentally packed, or you need to do something with it for the gel to work. Tried using the gel as I would any other shaving gel - squeezed some off in hand and noticed it did not start foaming up. Put it on face and tried rubbing around - nada. Used a shaving cream brush to work up a lather thinking this is different kind of product, still no joy. I had to double take if I was doing something wrong and if this was an aftershave gel instead of shave gel. Nope - the bottle says to apply it on wet skin and shave. This is not a shaving gel, it does not lather, it does not make beard go soft or compliant for razor. This is a blue jelly in a transparent bottle that is going to trash. ... show more

Not that good. I gave this two stars for decent ingredients, but this stuff doesn't lather or make it easy to shave (bald head). I shave almost everyday, and this stuff doesn't work well.
