Very good quality for the money! I have trouble finding size 15 at times, so I was glad that Clark's carries it in some styles. These are buttery soft distressed leather and have really nice cushioned insoles. This was my second recent pair of Clark's. The first was the same style (Shepton) in bees wax leather which is somewhat heavier but still feels great on the feet. Highly recommend Clark's for chukka boots! They have casual and dress shoes too!

I needed some black boots to wear with outfits that didn't work with my brown boots. I had ordered two pairs of black boots and need them for a memorial service and these arrived first. Let me start with saying they look much nicer than the other pair that I ordered. They are very comfortable. Well, the leather inside the boot is a bit rough, so I have to make sure to wear socks that go slightly over the cuff of the boot. So be aware of that if you are like me and like ankle socks you will need some higher socks for these boots. The rough cuff is the reason for four stars and not five. The 13 wide fits like a very comfortable 13 wide. So true to size, yes. The cushioned insole is taking some getting used to. I've been wearing my Bushacres also from Clarks and some trail runners from New Balance so a flatter, wider, lower sole is a sudden change and takes some adjusting. They are super comfortable (other than the aforementioned rough cuff) and the leather looks and feels nice. In the wide fit they kind of have more of a construction boot vide than a chukka vibe but still work well with business casual. The black leather is a little duller than pictured. It looks more like a waxed leather. I haven't relaced them yet. I need to. For whatever reason, Clarks decided these boots needed spiral lacing. Why? It's any better for tightening them. Yes they tie, but it's definitely more effort. A quick explanation of the differences between cross lacing and spiral lacing. Cross lacing focuses on two ends of a lace (whether its shoe laces or laces in a piece of clothing) forming x's up or down. This allows for a higher level of precision when tightening an item. Spiral lacing has one end of the lace being long and the other looping through the eyes and tying at the the top or bottom. It allows for consistent tightness up and down. Now these boots only have four eyes so there isn't a lot of room adjusting the tightness so the spiral lacing isn't a major problem and I can of course change it, but there I am trying these boots on and am figuring this out and am baffled why I'm dealing with this. Again easy enough to change but still weird.

The sole was the right size and width, and the quality was good, but the upper had me swimming in them. Every time I lifted my foot, my foot came off the insole and the boot dangled in the air.
