Description

In only nine years, Clarkesworld has established itself as one of the leading science fiction and fantasy magazines. During that time, they've won three Hugo Awards (2010, 2011 and 2013), one World Fantasy Award (2014), and their fiction has been nominated for or won the Hugo, Nebula, World Fantasy, Sturgeon, Locus, Shirley Jackson, Ditmar, WSFA Small Press, and Stoker Awards. Each monthly issue of Clarkesworld features three or four original stories by new and established authors, two reprint stories selected by Gardner Dozois, and an assortment of non-fiction offerings. In their pages, you can expect to find works by outstanding authors like Peter Watts, Catherynne M. Valente, James Patrick Kelly, Yoon Ha Lee, Ken Liu, Aliette de Bodard, Robert Reed, N. K. Jemisin, and Kij Johnson. The Kindle edition of Clarkesworld Magazine includes all text and art used in our other editions. The digital subscription consists of monthly issues delivered to your Kindle on the first of each month. Kindle Magazines are fully downloaded onto your Kindle so you can read them even when you're not wirelessly connected.

  • Fantastic Magazine
I have been a subscriber to this magazine for many years now between Amazon, Patreon, and direct subscription from Clarkesworld. It is, in my opinion, the best science fiction short story magazine out right now. They do an excellent job of finding new authors from all over the world as well as new works from existing authors. The mix of quality, variety, and novelty is truly exceptional and is displayed in their numerous awards. The stories are often thought-provoking and will sometimes stick with you for days. I've subscribed to and read many of the SF+F magazines and websites out there now, Clarkesworld is the one I measure the others by. If you're thinking about subscribing, I would say give it a go- I doubt you'll be disappointed. ... show more

  • I LOVE Clarksworld!
BUT... I have read this magazine for years on my old Kindle w/ the keyboard. Unfortunately, it finally bit the dust and I was forced to purchase the new iteration of the basic Kindle. I read almost everything holding the Kindle sideways due to arthritis. But the new Kindle WILL NOT position it (Clarksworld) sideways (despite the screens being the same size.) I even contacted the editor of Clarksworld who expressed surprise that I couldn't orient it thus. I'm just putting this out there...LET US VIEW OUR CLARKSWORLD SIDEWAYS! ... show more

  • Great Magazine, not the best in the genre
Great stories. I think in their attempt to "diversify" the authors represented in their publication, they may skip better, more interesting stories. I don't care who or where the author comes from, what color skin they have, or their sexual orientation, I just want to read good sci-fi stories.

  • Enhanced when paired w/Podcast reading by Kate Baker
These stories just come alive at a lively pace when read alongside Kate Baker narrating them on the Clarkesworld (free) podcast. Such a wonderful voice. Great globe-spanning science fiction, the only Kindle publication which sells back-issues (albeit in a yearly, affordable archive). Perfectly formatted for Kindle. Please support... ... show more

  • Consistently excellent story collections each month
I'm a regular reader of Clarkesworld, Uncanny, and Lightspeed magazines. Of the three, I think Clarkesworld sets the bar for excellence in terms of the quality of the stories they publish each month. This magazine leans toward what I would describe as "literary" science fiction. Their stories are character driven, tend to explore philosophical themes concerning the human condition, and are excellently crafted from an analytical perspective. I also appreciate their mission to bring more international translated work to the American markets, not to mention their commitment to pay authors respectably for their work. I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Great stories harvested from a diverse culture background
Ok, so you can listen to these free - BUT for how long? The cost is small, and the enjoyment is great. The variety of stories both in their content and interestingly, their origins covers so many ideas, leaving you thinking about the characters and situations. All drawn from a truly international cast which means the stories have a far more broader cultural intake than one finds in more standard science fiction. Also they are read without fuss, simply, and very clearly. ... show more

  • Wonderful
I subscribed because I enjoy the podcast so much! I love the intelligence of the stories. I think it’s great that they present authors from around the world. I think the entertainment is a great value and it’s important to support people that are keeping the genre vibrant.

  • Sad Little Suppository
Another lonely suppository-shaped robot on the cover!!! Did somebody sell you a hundred of these awful things? Enough. Buy some new artwork.
