  • A good, true viewport to Chicago
Book was almost flawless condition, only a mother's inscription to a son indicated that it had ever been opened, let alone read before.

  • Wonderful purchase!
AWESOME BOOK! For anyone who loves Chicago, grew up in Chicago, has a fondness for history and Chicago, this is the book! My mother LOVES it, and can show us where "this happened, that happened, that's where we'd take the trolley, or your dad worked at the railroad, or we got coffee, worked, first dates, etc."! It was a great hit for Christmas. ... show more

  • First page references the wrong city
The very first page of the book says "the map and site location circles are intended to give readers a broad view of where the historic houses are location around downtown Brooklyn". QQ

  • EXCELLENT GIFT / PERFECT FOR A COFFEE TABLE
I bought this for a gift and it was definitely well received. The book is the perfect size for a coffee table. Inside are some wonderful pictures of Chicago's past and present buildings and landmarks. Great photography and a well put together book with nice quality pages and binding. Make sure you get the "Hardcover" version as opposed to the "Flexibound". The hardcover is large and the flexibound is a compact version. This is a "Must-Have" for anyone who is a Chicago Native and wants a nice part of history. ... show more

I bought this as a gift a few Christmases back and recently at a family visit one of the up and coming engineers in the family pulled it off the shelf and was showing the other like-minded folks the comparisons. I mumbled, I bought that, but he was so proud of it and what he saw and learned from it, that I didn't want to steal his thunder. A FABULOUS book if you care about Chicago, urban development, architecture, and history. ... show more
