Good with minor modifications. Stopper is terrible

True to size. Nice skate. Mine came with a few issues. 1. Front stopper is junk for indoor rink use. the rubber is so hard that it doesn't grip smooth surfaces. if you just want to drag your front toe or use them on unpolished concrete they are ok. if you want to stop backward (novice/intermediate). they will slide like a puck on ice. I fell on first use based on this. Replacement stoppers are ~$10. a must IMHO. 2. Wheels were bolted on way too tight. They should spin freely for 20 secs or so. simply loosening them by 1/4 to 1/2 turn did the trick. With these mods they are 5 stars at ~$60.

Great beginners roller skate.

I was a little weary about ordering these for my son because of the reviews. These are his first pair of skates so I didn't want to spend a whole lot on them but I didn't want to be super cheap either. I measured his foot by inches and compared it to the dicks sporting goods website where they had a Chicago skate size chart. (I googled it and it was easy to find). His foot measured a little under 11inches (big kid) so we ordered an 11. They arrived fast but then again I have prime so it's free 2day shipping anyway. They look good and fit him perfect with a little wiggle room. He says they are very comfortable. He immediately hit the streets. Skated for 3 hours outside. Then came in and skated around the house the rest of the evening. At the end of the day I asked him how they felt and he said he felt like he was wearing shoes and didn't hurt at all. Other reviews mentioned the strap falling off, parts coming loose and seams coming unstitched within the first day! His looked fine. Again, these are his first pair of skates. He's also a 12yr old boy who is a very rough kid. So if u can imagine, These took a pretty good beating the first day but are still in tact. It's been 4 days since then and this kid literally has been wearing them from the moment he wakes up till the moment he goes to sleep. They are already skuffed up due to him falling on the street but no rips, loose stitches or loose parts. They seem sturdy. Only thing he asked me to do was to loosen the wheels so they could spin better. I also sprayed a little wd40 on the bearings. So far I think this was a great buy. Not too expensive, looks good, are comfortable and best of all... hes happy with them.

Don't do it unless you're prepared

I ordered 2 pairs of these for my twins in size 1 (blue laces) and size 2 (red laces). Out of the box I was excited for them. I laces them with each child's favorite color laces (72" were recommended, WAY too long). I knew the bearings weren't going to be fantastic, but figured at at least they had an ABEC rating, and my kids are pretty much beginners. If you look at the pics the skates are set up "right foot" in one pic then "wrong foot" in the other. The wheels are HORRIBLY misaligned. Almost like the trucks were twisted and the axles were tilted in the "right foot" pictures. Then the "wrong foot" pictures speak for themselves. All these photos were taken on a level surface with no weight put on the skates. The blue lace pair came with all 8 nuts so cranked down that I couldn't get them to budge even with the tools I use on my good skates. I was afraid the bearings were going to be crushed, thankfully I think the washer/spacer they put on them saved them, only one bearing (in pic) had damage. The red laces pair were easily removed. While skating, the blue pair (unknown to us, till I noticed from a distance) lost a toe stop, they were tight when we left. We thankfully found the stop, did not find the bolt. Overall, for cheap skates, they're not awful, but I absolutely would not buy them unless you are ready for adjustments. Eventually we will be replacing the wheels and bearings to better, less slick wheels and a nicer bearing setup (especially since when they move to their next skates, the wheels and bearings can move with them). We will also be replacing the stops on both skates to prevent anymore mishaps. My kids had fun, and didn't get hurt, and that's what matters, just really consider how much work you're willing to put into the skates out of the box. I'm fortunate to have a friend who is very very good with skates and willing to help me with the adjustments. They still need further adjustment, but we're usable.
