Description

High-quality German engineering meets outstanding design - that's CHERRY. As early as 1953, production of the first microswitches began in the basement of a restaurant in Illinois. 20 years later, the first keyboards were built - making CHERRY the oldest manufacturer of computer keyboards. 1983 saw the start of production of the MX switches, which are now used billions of times in millions of keyboards around the globe. Decades of experience, passion and tradition make the brand with the cherry what it stands for today: quality products designed in Germany and aimed at all those who have high demands on performance, design, durability and functionality of their input devices. The CHERRY KC 200 MX is a reliable, mechanical office keyboard with molded keycaps, minimalist dimensions as well as an anodized metal plate. You can expect a product of high quality and aesthetics - without unnecessary frills. In addition, the KC 200 MX can boast four additional keys and tasteful white status LEDs. The original CHERRY MX2A switches provide a unique typing feel and absolute precision, which makes the mechanical keyboard attractive not only for frequent typists, but also for gamers and programmers - all at an unbeatable price-performance ratio.

  • Incredibly quiet
Color: White W/MX2A Silent Red
I'm used to using mechanical keyboards with blue switches or sometimes even a buckling spring keyboard. But I wanted a keyboard for my computer at work that would feel better to type on than a membrane keyboard without annoying everyone else in my office. This was an excellent choice. This keyboard is quieter than some of the membrane keyboards I've used and feels much better for typing. It takes a bit of getting used to if you're used to blue or brown switches since there's no tactile bump. But the keypresses are nice and smooth. The build quality is also great. The design is modern looking without being tacky, so it doesn't look out of place on a desk at work. Definitely pricy even for a mechanical keyboard, especially considering there's no backlight and no extra features other than volume keys and a key to launch the calculator app. But worth the money if you want something nice to type on without being obnoxious. ... show more

  • Great keyboard with a good feel on the keys
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Silent Red
Nice looking keyboard with good key action. Fairly quiet. I was particularly impressed with the packaging, which was 100% recyclable, including the twisty on the cord.

  • Heavy - quality keyboard with tactile feel
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Silent Red
Ordered this Cherry KC 200 MX Mechanical Office Keyboard as I am a software engineer and love the old school mechanical keyboards so saw this come through and decided to give it a test run. The keyboard comes well packaged which makes it evident the brand has been making these for a while and put some effort into branding. The keyboard is solid and well built, very heavy with a quality metal finish and sculpted keys that are a joy to type on. With one exception, the space bar does not feel like it has the same level of tactile feedback and return as the standard text keys... When I type fast it's not as responsive as the cheaper clackity clack mechanical I was used to. My only real complaint with the keyboard is the lack of backlighting on the keys themselves. I read it ahead of time and it was not clear to me whether or not all the keys were illuminated, something about the Red Switch description and mention of white function keys confused me. I do prefer backlighting as my desk is set up in the living room and sometimes I do work in the dark. For the price I think that is a feature that should be included. For me a 4 star review on this product means that it is a brand name, quality build that I feel like is potentially over priced for the feature set but is certainly worthy of consideration and is recommended to anyone who wants a top solid, silent, mechanical keyboard focused on office productivity over gaming. ... show more

  • Great feel, very quiet
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Silent Red
Probably not the quietest keyboard out there, but quieter than most. Huge improvement over the cheap keyboard I was using. I like that the keys are not recessed. It seems like it will be easier to dust.

  • Not made in Germany
Color: White W/MX2A Silent Red
The photos on the product page on Amazon say “Made in Germany” when it is only designed in Germany and made in china. Other than that it’s a decent keyboard, the false advertisement just pissed me off

  • High Quality Keyboard from Cherry - Check the Box Before Opening!
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Silent Red
A high quality keyboard from Cherry. The quality of the switches is first rate. The backplate is metal and very attractive in the bronze color. The status lights on Numlock, Scroll and Caps Lock are pure white, and a little too bright. It may be annoying to those more sensitive to bright lights. I am generally happy, however I was sent the wrong model. I ordered a Cherry Red and not a Cherry Brown. I didn't have the sense to check the box before opening. Not Cherry's fault that Amazon sucks though. The Browns are good enough to live with as i don't have a spare keyboard i can use while waiting on an RMA process, but common Amazon L. If you buy this keyboard, make sure to check the box before opening, in case they ship you the wrong one. ... show more

  • Best of a few I've tried when replacing my 2003 mac keyboard
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Silent Red
I wanted several features: mechanical keys, traditional and natural feel, as well as longevity or at least good reputation. Cherry seemed to offer this with their mechanical keys. part of me was hoping for backlit keys but that wasn't necessary. it doesn't mimic the feel of my 2003 imac keyboards(yes, they lasted that long) but : it's an excellent lateral move for comfortable typing for office & personal use. Very content with this (bronze) and I'm going to purchase a second one for another computer shortly. I've replaced a Logitech, another Cherry w/ the scissor-keys (loved the feel but one key broke in a week) and a HexGear. silly as it may sound, I wanted dedicated sound control keys up front; not to have to press the FN key every time I wanted to mute or change sound. the Cherry is totally plug-n-play as well. ... show more

  • A very competent Mechanical keyboard without the gamer fluff.
Color: Bronze W/MX2A Brown
This is a very nice keyboard from the makers of some of the best-regarded mechanical switches. I have the bronze / black version with brown switches. There's no deck flex when typing, but when intentionally pushing it does bend a little bit. Brown switches are very similar to the red switches on my other keyboards, but slightly stiffer. I make less accidental key presses on brown as compared to red, but I prefer a clicky switch over a linear one. As much of a nice, competent keyboard this is, it kinda falls flat on its face when you take the cost ($90) into consideration compared to some of the other brands. The USB cable is rather thin and basic (not so thin that I feel like its going to rip apart, though). Also, at this price, I would like to see some backlights. Not RGB, just some plain white LED key backlights with compatible key caps for typing in the dark or low light conditions. A key cap puller would be nice too as they are helpful for cleaning. In short, its a good keyboard but the majority of the cost seems to be going into the brand name. ... show more
