  • The “I Guess We Detail Cars Now” Kit That Turned My Driveway Into a Foam Party
Style: HOL169
I bought the Chemical Guys 16-Piece Arsenal Builder Kit for my husband one Christmas because he had been talking about trying Chemical Guys products for a while. And me being me, I didn’t want to gamble on one bottle… I figured, why not just get the whole lineup and let him go full “weekend detailer era”? That year, I pretty confidently secured the title of “best gift giver,” and I’m still riding that win. First impression when you open it: it feels like a full system, not just random car products tossed in a box. Everything has its place and purpose, from the foam cannon to the microfiber towels to the bucket with the grit guard. It actually feels like someone thought through the entire process of washing a car from start to finish instead of just selling individual pieces. The foam cannon is easily the showpiece. Once it’s hooked up to a pressure washer, it turns into that satisfying thick foam situation where the car basically disappears under suds. It’s one of those things that makes you feel slightly overqualified for washing your own driveway vehicle. It works well at lifting dirt so you’re not just rubbing grime around, which makes the whole process feel a lot more controlled and less risky for paint. The included chemicals are a nice mix for getting started. You’ve got shampoo, wheel cleaner, and a few finishing products, and they all feel like they’re designed to work together rather than just being random add-ons. Nothing overly complicated—just straightforward products that do what they’re supposed to do. The bucket setup with the grit guard is one of those things you don’t think much about until you use it and realize how much cleaner your wash water stays. The microfiber mitt and drying towels also feel sturdy and absorbent, not the flimsy kind that fall apart after a few uses. Same goes for the detailing brush and applicators—everything feels like it can actually handle repeated use without immediately looking worn out. In terms of durability, the tools have held up well over time. The bucket is solid, the accessories haven’t fallen apart, and nothing feels like “one-and-done” quality. It’s more in that category of gear you can keep reaching for every wash day without worrying it’s going to give up on you halfway through. Functionally, it really does make the whole car wash process feel more intentional. Instead of just spraying off a car, it turns into a full routine—foam, wash, rinse, dry, finish. A little extra effort, yes, but also kind of satisfying in a way that sneaks up on you. If there’s a gentle caveat, it’s that this is definitely a “system” kit. You get the most value when you actually use it as intended with a pressure washer and take your time with each step. If you’re looking for a quick 10-minute rinse-and-go setup, this might feel like more than you need. At around $160, the value makes sense considering how much is included and how complete it feels. You’re not piecing together separate items or guessing what works together—it’s all already mapped out for you. Overall, this turned into one of those gifts that didn’t just get used once or twice. It became part of a whole hobby moment, and honestly, it still gets pulled out whenever it’s time to make the car look like it has its life together again. My husband is now a Chemical Guy for life. ... show more

After a little misfire with my pressure washer, I ended up using this kit the old fashioned way. I know that defeats half of the purpose of it, but for the time being this is my review... Overall the products I tested worked great. The soap and mitt are pretty standard as are the microfiber towels and as other reviewers have mentioned, it's a little silly that it only comes with one bucket when Chemical Guys advocate a two bucket system. You can pick up a semi-translucent paint mixing bucket from a big box store and another grit guard, but as my S/O's car was so filthy I figured anything at all would help- I also got to test it out on her car first :D I think that's a fair trade. I used the window cleaner, speed wipe, the silk shine on the trim, and some toothpaste for the headlights and got the car looking like it had had a professional detail job. Window cleaner left a streak free shine Speed Wipe went on easy and was akin to a Turtle Wax Ice- not a true wax, but a definite improvement over nothing at all considering it takes about 3 minutes to apply Silk Shine had the dash and trim looking brand spanking new. Not sure if it's much better than Armor All, but I prefer the smell and application was a breeze Took a while, but the car looks as good as I've ever seen it. I probably took 3 years of wear off with one wash and light detail if you could even call it that considering the products I used. I definitely recommend this kit- I think it's a fair value for money, especially if you're just starting out and want to test the waters. ... show more

This comprehensive kit contains everything you need to achieve professional-quality results right in your own driveway. One of the standout features of this kit is the foam gun. • Great starter kit Great starter kit
Style: HOL169
This is a great starter kit with fairly easy to use products...make sure you read directions on bottles! Only need a few ounces of soap and rest water in foam cannon jug. Worked wonders on work truck(pictured) that hadn't been washed in over 6 months through a pacific northwest winter/spring season. Melted mud/dirt coating right off with minimal hand scrubbing. Prefer other brand(Adam's) products as their line is simpler. But Chemical Guys is still pretty decent and available at Walmart which is a plus if you run out. With a coupon special this set was an incredible deal. Foam cannon is goid and pretty adjustable. Products smell good but I care more about how they work which is very good at the entry pricepoint. ... show more

  • Good Entry Level Kit Not Great Value Good Entry Level Kit Not Great Value
Style: HOL169
I have mixed feelings about this set. I got this for my family for Christmas so we could clean our cars better because they were starting to get dirty. It was a great gift because it all came in the included bucket and all I had to do was wrap it . It’s important to note that this kit is really designed for only cleaning the outside of your car because it comes with shampoo that you can put into the foam canon, a quick detailer, a wheel cleaning product, a glass, cleaning product, a wax and a dressing. Having said this, it is very easy to clean the interior as all you need to get is an interior cleaning solution, a couple of brushes, towels, and a vacuum. Quality: the quality of the towels, applicator, brush, and the foam cannon was very good. One thing I have heard is that although the foam Canon produces good foam, some people say that it is easy to accidentally cross thread the bottle until the point where it doesn’t stay on anymore and then they have to buy a new bottle from chemical guys, which is very poor quality. If you have a cheap pressure washer that output something around 1.2 GPM then you consider upgrading your orifice to a 1.1 mm to produce better foam. Chemicals: I have not tested all of the chemicals, but the ones I tested have been pretty good. The dressing gives a very good touch to the interior and wheels that you just cleaned and the soap is just another average snow foam. The wheel cleaner is good for maintenance cleans and I probably would not recommend using this for any deep cleaning. I have heard that the wax is very good although I have not used it yet. I have to admit that these chemicals do have a good smell. Value: This kit is very pricey and if you do a little bit of research, you’ll find that there are better value options (individual products not kits) that are just as good if not better. The main reason why this kit is so expensive is because the retail on the foam canon for around 80 to 90 USD which is overpriced in my opinion. Chemical guys does have good videos for beginners on how to use specific products which can be helpful. If you’re thinking about a foam cannon and there are probably much better options at this price point. I think the wax is a little bit unnecessary and they could replace it with something like a drying towel. Most people either put some other protectant on their paint or they ceramic coat it. Wax should be replaced by a drying towel so you can avoid water spots on your paint. ... show more

  • Interior, exterior, and waxing- all in one bucket. Interior, exterior, and waxing- all in one bucket.
Style: HOL169
Today I tried most of the products in this kit. 1. The Diablo wheel was was effective in lifting the grime. Rinse, apply, agitate, rinse. Simple. 2. I was using remains of the Maxi foam suds from a previous purchase, and it continues to act as expected, rinse, apply soapy foam, (I used a garden hose, but the kit I purchased came with a pressure washer cannon- I’ll use that some other time.) I used the big magenta microfiber mitt- not in the kit, and that cut my wash time down a lot. This mitt is huge, and holds suds and water almost for the entire vehicle. I rinsed and soaked only 3 times to really wash the suv. Next I did a final rinse and used the red waffle towel to soak up the standing water. Simple process and the towel really picked up the water where needed. 5. I used the glass cleaner both inside and outside, along with the blue microfiber towels included in the kit. Overall, nice job cleaning the windows. I finished off with the spray version of the butter wet wax, I was using some older purchases before opening the new stuff. The blue towels really helped apply and wipe the wax. Once I was done wiping all the wax, I stepped back and admired the shine. Before I washed the exterior, I applied the blue and white bottle shine product to all of the plastic surfaces inside like door fixtures, dashboard etc. my seats are leather, so I held off there. My wife walked by midway and noticed the interior shine, impressive. I also used the speed shine on the paint surfaces in the door jambs and back door hatch areas, that typically will not get washed when everything is closed up. Overall, again, each product worked admirably. The only products I didn’t use in the kit were the soap foam, the butter wet wax- cream, and the pressure washer cannon. I will eventually. Very satisfied. All steps of car detailing covered. Interior, exterior, and waxing. Awesome. Got this on prime day so it was a steal of a deal. ... show more
