You may be wondering how I can call it "excellent" and yet give it only 4 stars. As I've said before, I REALLY wish Amazon would allow us to rate by the half-star, but I can't and so the ONLY complaint that I have about this mat ends up losing a star. But let's start with the PROS: It looks really nice. I've seen dozens of these mats and most of them are either just plain black, or they're overly decorated with goofy slogans and swirly this and that. This mat has a really cool geometric, interweaving pattern only around the edge. A simple, and elegant style of Gold on Black. Of all the bar mats I've seen online, where some are more expensive and either gaudy or plain in appearance, this appears to be the best deal. I mean, there's some instances of getting two mats for the price of this one, but they're totally plain, and good really only for a professional bar where they're not concerned about style. It's made of food-grade Silicon and is therefore super easy to clean. Just a little slightly soapy water, and then leave it out to dry. I don't know if you can use it in a dishwasher, but that'd be overkill ... though I KNOW that my wife is going to want to put it in there, so IF she gets her little paws on it and is naughty and puts it in the dishwasher, I'll let you know if it survives -- I mean it SHOULD since it's silicon, but well, we'll find out ... maybe. It's got a deep enough reservoir without it being ridiculous -- afterall, you've got to be able to pick it up and dump the drippings into the sink. It's got nice, flat nubs all over the surface to keep wet glasses flat and prevents them from sticking to a totally flat surface. CONS: My (semi) only complaint has to do with storage. If it were a bit more rigid (or if the box that it came in was more rigid) I could store it in my liquor cabinet on its side, up against the side of the cabinet, not taking up much space at all. But the construction material is very floppy. I did see the photo of the corner being bent but I just figured it was saying that it was flexible, not that it was actually floppy. Don't get me wrong, it's very sturdy in the sense that it's absolutely going to last a very long time. I suppose another half complaint has to do with the floppiness of it in connection with picking it up or order to dump drippings into the sink. I mean, it seems to me that if I was doing a bunch of drinks for guests it might get a bit full after a while, and I'm thinking that a more rigid body might be more conducive to carrying it over to the kitchen sink. But other than that I'm quite happy with it.

Love the design. It's of good quality, however the yellow is really bright yellow. Wish it was darker or more of a gold color to really go with the design. Works great.

This is the second bar mat I own. My first is smaller and lesser quality, so I was excited to get this. I also own and love the Charred Edge smoker chips; like those, the packaging is delightful. The mat is solidly secured within two pieces of foam, and the box is high enough quality for upright storage if you have limited space like me (mine's currently tucked within the small gap between my wine fridge and bar). The mat is sizeable enough to hold everything I need for mixing cocktails without overwhelming my countertop. It's excellent quality, hefty and sturdy, with uniform leveling across the entire mat, providing a stable surface for my bottles and tools. The non-slip bottom, although different than any I've used before, is quite effective. This mat didn't budge even a tiny bit when I used it. Washing is simple, especially with the larger gaps between the "pegs" of the mat. Air drying will take a while before I can stow it back in the box, but that's not a big deal since I usually leave these things to dry overnight. Spills are perfectly contained within the mat thanks to its thickness and the grooved edges. And those grooves aren't solely practical but create a retro design that makes me smile every time I see it. Of course, a beautiful mat isn’t necessary for usability, but it makes a fantastic bonus on an already great mat. I’m thrilled with this mat, and I have no doubt I'll get many years of use out of it.

The gilt Art-Deco style edges here transform a normal bar mat into something a little more special, and it makes a nice presentation space once a cocktail is finished and ready for a guest. Paired with a fabric cocktail mat, or a fancy coaster, it frames a finished cocktail nicely and elevates the experience for your drink recipient. It’s super easy to clean, and the gold edges are made of the same silicone, so they don’t rub off or appear to deteriorate after spills and other use. Comes in a nice little box, so easily giftable to that bar-pretender in your life. Another cool thing, is that the mat is not too big, flexible, and of course portable, so I can slip it into my bartender’s backpack and carry it along as a nice tray for finished up cocktails when I travel to a friend’s house and do some mixing. I’ve got a little shot of a recent sip here so that you can judge the impact for yourself. It’s the Justice for Barb, a Stranger Things-themed drink from the cocktail collection Stranger Gins by Carol Hilker. Overall, happy to have picked this up for my cocktailian evenings, and it’s a 5 for me.

This 12"x18" spill mat came from Chared Edge and was priced at $18 when we ordered it. The presentation with the packaging was well done making it very giftable. The mat itself is also well done. The rubber has no odor, high grip non-slip properties, is fresh (good oil content/not dried out) and the finish looks clean and free of spew marks. The shape, trim, and lack of branding give this mat a sophisticated look. The thickness of the mat overall isnt overly thin or thick, but leans to the thinner side for home use and not commercial. We are using this as a expresso mat as the grinds tend to make a mess and it works well. It can trap a fair amount of liquid and grounds in the recessed area and is easy to wash. Its also heat resistent which is nice when working with steam temperatures. Overall its a nice looking mat and it functions as intended. I have no complaints.
