I bought both the green and blue leds. All in all they were a great deal price wise. The specs. rated them at 3v fwd drop running at 20mA which I found to be right when I measured them in a circuit. The diameter is a bit off however. I believe 5mm should be .197" and both colors measured .192". I had predrilled my holes so the leds are a bit loose.

I have a couple vintage Apple IIe computers and on one of them, the bulb on the keyboard had burned out. I had a regular LED in there which worked fine but it was an old automotive bulb designed for 12V. It was working okay with 5V but dim so I found these. First, they change color on their own and I thought that'd be an interesting look for an old computer. If you wanted something more "stock" looking then find a solid color (green maybe) and there you go, but for a touch of whimsy these are pretty cool. To work with the 5V DC power of the bulb socket, I snipped one lead and soldered on a small 100 ohm resistor. I think all I had was a 1/4W which is just a bit too big but I made it work. Ideally a 1/8 W would have been a better choice, but I was working with what I had on hand. The 100 ohm on the 5V supply gives the LED what it needs... it's not too bright and it's fun to see it cycling through the colors. Again, maybe not for everyone, so get solid colors if you want, but for me this is fun. I wish they had smaller quantities because I only needed one or two, but the price for 100 of these is still small enough and I imagine I'll find some other fun projects for these in the future, replacing other burned out bulbs or replacing boring red LEDs on things.

They met expectations mostly. They are cheap and seem to function well for what they are. Two things: 1) The text in description is correct. These ARE common-cathode LEDs. However, the little picture in the description photos, while labeled correctly, shows the diodes in the opposite direction as would be proper for a common anode device, not common-cathode. 2) When lighting multiple diodes, the individual diodes seem separated by more space internal to the package than I would expect, and therefore the blending of colors is pretty uneven. IE: When you turn them all on, it is not a uniform white, but different tints in different areas of the device. This can be somewhat mitigated by lightly abrading the surface to scatter and blend better. Minor nit, though.

I used one of these for a Halloween costume accessory. I 3D printed a "raygun" and used this with two AAA batteries. The muzzle had a glass lense in front of the diode. The result was a very bright flash every time the trigger was pulled. These were even brighter than I'd hoped.

Simple to use, choice of 3 colors. Also the lens is such that you can actually project the colors onto a ceiling or wall. They appear as slightly offset overlapping rings, which can create some very nice artistic color effects. Or perhaps more practical, they would be great for a three-color indicator light.
