These are actually quite bright considering and are easy to work with on a breadboard or pcb, but the polarity is reversed from the packaging. The notched corner/side is actually positive. Not negative as the packaging and description claims.

I purchased a few different colors of these at once and after testing them out, I couldn't get the red ones to work for some reason. If you take a look at the attached photos, you'll see why. Even though the polarity for all of the leds are correctly marked in the product photos, the red leds are INCORRECTLY marked on the little baggie that they are shipped in, causing me to free the magic smoke from the first one I tried! IMHO, I think they should have to pay the shipping costs to send me a replacement for that one led I destroyed! 😆😆 I have tons of different types of leds, so I'm used to the red ones of most types having a different polarity than the rest. I was a tad confused as to why these would be different, but who am I to argue with the polarity symbol placed by the manufacturer, right?? Well, please be aware that no matter what the package, the instructions, the descriptions, etc., say, they can/do still have flaws, so invest in a DMM that can reliably test your components before placing them directly into a circuit! ... show more
