The Champion Power Equipment 201317 2500-Watt Portable Inverter Generator with CO Shield® is ideal for camping, tailgating, powering items around the RV or providing backup for a few basics. This unit is not recommended for emergency home backup. Weighing less than 40 pounds, this ultralight model is one of the lightest 2500-watt inverters in the industry. Thanks to Champion’s innovative design, power on the go has never been easier. Power up with the reliable recoil start, plus Cold Start Technology ensures a quick start in cold weather. Included are a 120V 15.4 A household duplex outlet (5-20R), plus a 12V automotive-style outlet, and Parallel outlets. This inverter operates at 53 dBA from 23 feet – about the same noise level as a dishwasher running in the next room. Using gasoline, the 80cc Champion engine produces 2500 starting watts and 1850 running watts. When the 1.1-gallon tank of gasoline is full, this inverter will run up to 11.5 hours at 25% load. Connect this Parallel Ready inverter with another Champion 2500-watt inverter for 30 amps of power. If you purchase the optional parallel kit (not included), you can integrate two inverters, plus the kit has a 120V 30A locking and 120V 50A RV outlet. Confidently connect your sensitive electronics since this inverter produces Clean Power (<3% THD). Designed for safety with a low oil shut-off sensor, this model has a 0.5-quart oil capacity. Champion’s Inverter Technology includes smart Economy Mode, which can reduce the electrical load, providing quieter operation, extended engine life and better fuel economy. UPDATE to review: since Champion contacted us back, they've given us a refund after we shipped it back to them. I think we just got a lemon, because we ended up buying another Champion that we like better than the first kind described here. Our contact was most pleasant and we've come out ahead in the long run. I recommend Champion, but not going through Amazon. Amazon was no help at all when the original didn't work. this product does not work. we received it on 10/1. husband got it started. it ran about 10 minutes, quit and will not start. we've contacted champion (after waiting for 45 minutes) and they gave us two places to get it repaired. neither place will work on said product because of issues with parts and can't get call backs from champion (this after a 40 mile round trip to take it to repair). one of the repairmen looked our machine up and said it had been sold before, returned, and placed back for sale. we understood it was new. i've tried to contact them by "contact seller" last week and get no response. we didn't see the "non-returnable" (my fault) til after we received it so getting no satisfaction from them or amazon. to be on the safe side, i would not order this if i had known how i'd be treated.     • DO NOT BUY - Easy to start produces power efficiently - cuts itself off after a few minutes.
DO NOT BUY. I have down rated this from my initial review. I read the CO complaints and thought I would just run it outside. My MISTAKE! Do not discount the CO sensor complaints as I did. CHAMPION - FIX THIS ! The thing is not usable from any practical perspective. I would return it if I could. It is outside and stops itself after about 15 minutes b/c of the CO sensor. Ridiculous! The CO sensor is nothing short of a serious pain in the rear. Champion should have a switch or menu option to disable this sensor. I have seen videos that explain how to disable the sensor on other models. The sensor issue is a common complaint of this brand generator and its greatest negative. When it runs, it is efficient and produces power as expected. ... show more

    • Doesn't run for more than a few minutes
Very disappointing. It has an overly sensitive carbon monoxide sensor. It is only used outdoors, and I have to blow a 20 inch fan on it on high. Still it will shut down after a few minutes due to the CO sensor. We will see what customer support does. Will update if Champion has a remedy. Update: after calling customer support, they sent a replacement CO monitor. I replaced the defective one in about 20 minutes. After 3 days of testing, the problem is solved. Some, perhaps not all, of the shut down issues are an overly sensitive CO sensor. Get Champion to send you the replacement and see. ... show more

Pros: Super quiet!, easy to start (I'm an old woman and can start it easily), runs perfectly for long periods, carry handle, small size (fits under a desk to store), easy-view gas gauge, seems to be gas-efficient. Cons: Can't find any except it is a little pricey - but definitely worth it.
