Description

The Champion Power Equipment 201317 2500-Watt Portable Inverter Generator with CO Shield® is ideal for camping, tailgating, powering items around the RV or providing backup for a few basics. This unit is not recommended for emergency home backup. Weighing less than 40 pounds, this ultralight model is one of the lightest 2500-watt inverters in the industry. Thanks to Champion’s innovative design, power on the go has never been easier. Power up with the reliable recoil start, plus Cold Start Technology ensures a quick start in cold weather. Included are a 120V 15.4 A household duplex outlet (5-20R), plus a 12V automotive-style outlet, and Parallel outlets. This inverter operates at 53 dBA from 23 feet – about the same noise level as a dishwasher running in the next room. Using gasoline, the 80cc Champion engine produces 2500 starting watts and 1850 running watts. When the 1.1-gallon tank of gasoline is full, this inverter will run up to 11.5 hours at 25% load. Connect this Parallel Ready inverter with another Champion 2500-watt inverter for 30 amps of power. If you purchase the optional parallel kit (not included), you can integrate two inverters, plus the kit has a 120V 30A locking and 120V 50A RV outlet. Confidently connect your sensitive electronics since this inverter produces Clean Power (<3% THD). Designed for safety with a low oil shut-off sensor, this model has a 0.5-quart oil capacity. Champion’s Inverter Technology includes smart Economy Mode, which can reduce the electrical load, providing quieter operation, extended engine life and better fuel economy. Fully assembled with hassle-free setup, the built-in carrying handle makes transport a cinch. Buy this EPA certified generator with confidence – Champion Support and our nationwide network of service centers will back up your purchase with a 3-year limited warranty and FREE lifetime technical support. CO Shield® technology monitors the accumulation of carbon monoxide (CO), a poisonous gas produced by engine exhaust when the generator is running. If CO Shield® detects unsafe elevated levels of CO gas, it automatically shuts off the engine. CO Shield® is not a substitute for an indoor carbon monoxide alarm or for safe operation. DO NOT allow engine exhaust fumes to enter a confined area through windows, doors, vents or other openings. Generators must ALWAYS be used outdoors, far away from occupied buildings with engine exhaust pointed away from people and buildings. Meets the requirements of ANSI/PGMA G300-2018.

  • Reliable and Quiet Generator for Off-Grid Living in California
Living off the grid in California, I've gone through my fair share of suitcase generators, but this one stands out for its quiet performance. Despite the challenge of sourcing generators from out of state, this one has proven to be a keeper. With over 20,000 hours of use annually, the generator's quieter operation is a welcomed change. However, I did notice a slight increase in exhaust smell compared to previous models. I usually house my generators in a small doghouse-like cover for protection from the elements. One issue I encountered was the carbon monoxide sensor triggering frequent shutdowns, posing a concern for winter use. Despite this setback, the generator has been reliable, allowing me to power through snow and rain without a hitch. Overall, apart from the minor exhaust smell and sensor issue, I've been impressed with its performance. ... show more

  • Powerful and quiet.
My wife uses this generator for an ice cream cart that she displays at outdoor events. It powered the large cart, a slushie machine and some electronics for almost eight hours. It's also relatively quiet especially when compared to a normal generator. It's not light but not too heavy for my petite wife to maneuver. It also starts easily which is a big plus. ... show more

  • It does just what I wanted it for
This generator was purchased when hurricane Helene rolled through. It got delivered just a few hours before power got restored. I'm crediting this generator with that. LOL. Anyway... It hasn't been cranked since Helene, around 9 months ago, but I had done a "long term storage procedure" on it, which is supposed to be good for years. After fueling, it fired right up. 1st or 2nd pull. I used it to power a fridge, internet equipment, two laptops, a desktop PC, an iPad, some LED lights, and a fan. It ran most of the time at under 50%. I topped off the fuel right before bedtime, and it ran for 7.5 hrs before running out. I was able to get pretty much a whole night of sleep uninterrupted. It does just what I wanted it for... enough power for essentials, with the ability to use fuel efficiently in case of extended outages. ... show more

  • deleting the CO sensor in the constant shutting off of the generator because of it
The media could not be loaded. so far this generator’s been really nice it’s quieter than most of the suitcase generators I’ve owned. I live off grid so I go through about one of these every year. I’m putting approximately 20,000+ hours on them and I live in California. We’re getting generators is harder and harder so I have to get them from out of state and bring them home two things I’ve noticed with this one even though it’s much quieter than the others. I do notice that there’s more exhaust smell than normal. I also keep these generators in a small doghouse type covering so I can keep them running during snow and rain. First problem I have was the carbon monoxide sensor kept shutting the generator off so I and rainwill have to figure out something else to do this winter with it that’s very annoying all the rest of our rain just fine in that box. Other than that I’ve had no problem so far and really like it. update. few months later so it’s now raining and starting to snow in my area with heavy winds. Has the wind swirl around and sometimes blow exhaust fumes backwards into the doghouse the generator shuts off. I have gone as far as to put an 8 inch duck fan blowing fresh air directly into the intake or front of the generator. This is helped unfortunately not a lot. My next step is to take this stupid generator apart to find the O2 sensor if it unplugged yay I’ll see if it starts and runs. If it doesn’t I’m going to put a cap on the end of the sensor and see if it runs. If neither solution works, it’s going in the trash. I’m done with this. I’m tired of it shutting off several times an hour because of this carbon monoxide safety sensor. This is the major issue with this generator. I wish it didn’t have it because otherwise it runs great works great again. The biggest downfall is carbon monoxide sensor Well, a few days later, I’ve done some research. Got a wiring diagram. Spent a day and a half disassembling the entire generator to find how where this carbon monoxide sensor is and how to defeat it. After disconnecting it, it has been running for two days with no shut offs finally so happy. So the procedure is very easy anyone can do this. Undo the too quick release knobs on the right side of the generator if it’s facing, you take this cover off. This is the same cover you would use to change the oil. There’s a grouping of wiring harness tapped up in the front corner with a tie wrap plastic wrap, cut that plastic tie wrap off gently pull out those wires look for a plug with two orange wires going in and coming out on each end of the plug disconnect this plug. This is the current power supply to the carbon monoxide sensor. It will no longer work. I have included videos with the generator running with his plug disconnected images of this plug and it disconnected also there is an image of the carbon monoxide sensor board and intake. I have not tried this, but I’m sure if he stuffed paper towel or plastic in that intake. It would defeat it too, but have not tried that so I can’t actually see if that works. So good luck with it so far I’ve had perfect results. ... show more

  • Very good
I bought this generator for my family in Cuba who suffer from power outages. The generator runs on gasoline and is really good. It provides electricity to their house for several hours, and they can connect refrigerators, fans, rice cookers, coffee makers, and everything else at the same time. It doesn't make much noise, but it must be kept outdoors because it emits a gas that, if it accumulates, will cause the generator to shut off. But it's really good; I highly recommend it. ... show more
