  • There are enough easy ones for any level plus advanced ones
I got this for my mother who has dementia and was also starting to struggle with balance. Some of them are just too dangerous for her as she has lost the ability to assess what is safe for her so I tore out pages of ones she can safely do and made a packet. The visual cues are super helpful for her to remember to do each one. I just picked ones where she is stable while doing them but there is all skill levels in here for anyone. It has helped more than I could have hoped for her balance and walking already. ... show more

  • Exercises for seniors
I have gotten a few other chair exercises and I feel like this book has been helpful in my mobility. It not only has the exercises but also, the yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi, all using a chair. I feel better and I am losing a few pounds, so the exercises must be working. I also have less stress and feeling like I'm tired all the time. But I think it's important to do warmups, and cool down exercises. I have put this book to good use. ... show more

  • Maintain your youth and vitality
I appreciated that this book spent so much time encouraging older folks to stay active and taught them how to do that in a safe way. The book opens by explaining how important it is to stay active and why chair fitness is a good way for older adults to do just that. The book introducdes a lot of different exercises. They are divided by the area of the body they focus on. For example, all the ones that benefit the heart are in the cardiovascular section. THere are appropriate diagrams when needed. The book closes with teaching the reader how to put together their own fitness routine. ... show more

  • It’s never too late
An excellent guide to getting your flexibility and strength back/right with your age. Complete with pictures for each exercise as guides for how-to. Book promotes flexibility, strength building and and the model isn’t too hard to look at either. Suggest book not only for senior citizens but for anyone who can’t stand for long periods of time or those wheelchair bound. ... show more

  • Great exercises for seniors.
I bought it to assist my 60-year-old mother with home training, but I think I can use some of them for myself. There are illustrations for each exercise, it's helpful!

  • Needs an editor
This book seems thrown together quickly without careful editing. There are some nice features such as a link to download a full-color version of the book. However, even a quick read shows a need for a more basic editorial review. Misspelled words such as "equipment" or "strength" should not have made it to print. The text for the "seated mountain pose" confusingly tells you to place your palms UP while the accompanying photo shows palms DOWN. Readers are encouraged to "assess their current fitness level" using tests like the bicep test where "participants use a specified dumbbell weight and perform as many bicep curls as possible in 30 seconds". Okay, how much weight should I use? The author never tells you. The book is okay but the number of 5-star reviews is baffling. ... show more

  • improve strength and balance using a chair
No exercising on the floor or using equipment, all you need is a chair. The author provides photographs of himself doing each exercise accompanied by text with step-by-step directions.
