The media could not be loaded. I highly recommend Dr. Ellie’s system of tooth care. After receiving a cleaning 3 years ago, I began to feel and notice rapid gum recession. I am 43 and hadn’t been to the dentist in several years (I’ve had trauma at the dentist), so I was hesitant to go back to the dentist for help, fearing some kind of crazy surgery on my gums. I’ve always been told I have strong enamel and do a good job brushing at the dentist and orthodontist, but was told at sixteen I had receding gums. It never bothered me for about twenty-three years with sporadic cleanings, until my last cleaning 3 years ago. The sensitivity I had from sweet and even room temp foods was getting unbearable. I would hold my jaw for several minutes waiting for the pain to pass if I happened to eat something that set it off. It’s been 3.5 weeks, and that notch in my gum on my front tooth is much improved (not sure which order they will upload in, but the clearer one is the “progress” photo), and my gums are much thicker. Also, my pain level is down about 80-85%. I can eat frozen yogurt, salads and cold granola cereal again. I really appreciate the logical and research-based approach to Dr Ellie’s dental care. I also appreciate that she’s not pushing some kind of snake oil remedy. Every product she recommends is produced by other manufacturers and even her own mints are not pushed as the only xylitol product that works. It seems to me she really cares about people’s mouth health and is not to make a quick buck - which I do appreciate. Also, you can start this system with information she has available for free online. I purchased her book to go more in depth on the research and to check it as an easy recommendation to others. I purchase her mints to support her work, because, honestly, she’s saving me a lot of money and pain. I set up my bathroom with her proven system for ease of use and it takes no more time than if you brush and floss for every tooth cleaning. I found all the products here on Amazon (which can also be found here in Dr Zellies profile). I keep Zellies mints in these cute candy dishes around the house and a pack in my purse to make this step easily accessible in her tooth care system after eating. My mouth feels clean and my teeth feel slick, no longer “hairy” after eating. And I’m in so much less pain in just 3 short weeks with visible changes! Would not be surprised to find my teeth in no pain in no time. This book/system is a game changer in dental health - I highly recommend. ... show more

  • Very good information
I really Enjoyed reading Dr. Ellie’s book about simple oral health care routines morning and night time. If only I had this book 10 years ago I would be so much better off ! Fantastic, honest and well written information. I started her recommended oral health care system and within the first few weeks could see a difference in my teeth. … Thank you Dr Ellie ❤️ ... show more

  • If ever there was a "don't judge a book by its title" book, this is it.
I'm guessing the inspiration for that jaw-dropping title on the book jacket came from somebody in the marketing department, not from the dentist who wrote this book. I think what Dr. Ellie, as she calls herself, is doing here is trying to get both you and your dentist to focus primarily on prevention...a movement that many dentists are joining but most dental schools apparently are not. Let me see if I can give you a quick overview of the fundamentals of do-it-yourself oral care that she espouses here: Not all bacteria is bad. Not all plaque is bad. And with some PH strips and a bit of attention from you in the form of a 2xdaily routine, the good bacteria and good plaque will team up and either prevent or fix most of what goes wrong in your mouth without professional help. Cavities will do their own repair work. Tooth enamel won't wear away. Gums won't bleed. Gingivitis will get fixed on the home-front and almost never need the attention of a periodontist. Whitening and its often dangerous after-effects will no longer be the "in" thing to do. Flossing? Replaced by an antiseptic rinse. Bad breath and dry mouth? Gone. And the "necessity" for semi-annual professional cleanings? Your call. The magic potion seems to be something called xylitol, a product of nature that's sometimes better known as "wood sugar," as much of it comes from birch trees. And the 2xdaily routine recommended goes pretty much like this: Use a chlorine dioxide rinse (like CloSYS Closys Alcohol-Free Oral Rinse, With Flavor Control, 32 fl oz (946 ml) (Pack of 2) ) before brushing; then brush teeth and gums, using just a bit of toothpaste (she recommends regular Crest), follow with an antiseptic rinse and then an 0.05% fluoride rinse; dip your toothbrush-head in Listerine to kill any lingering germs. In-between times, treat dry mouth and finish off meals, snacks, drinks, with a bit of xylitol--about 2 teaspoonsful a day will do it. Or take it in the form of xylitol mints or xylitol gum, such as Xlear Spry Berryblast Mints, 240 Pieces or Spry Spearmint Xylitol Chewing Gum 100 Count . "By eating xylitol," the book says, "you change the entire biochemistry of your mouth and help to naturally clean your teeth from a biological point of view while also stimulating natural repair of any damaged or weak areas." That's the gist of it. But do consider reading the whole book, especially if you have children or are pregnant as there seems to be quite an epidemic of early-childhood dental problems these days, much of which is easily fixable prenatally and on the homefront. Dr. Ellie, as her bio calls her, also has a web site, but frankly I think the book is much better written and edited and, as a result, much easier to understand. ... show more
