  • iPad Killer for Amazon Customers
Style: Fire HD 8 Plus Digital Storage Capacity: 32 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Slate
Just purchased the HD 8 plus, and it has exceeded my expectations. Let me start by saying that to get the FULL BENEFIT of a Fire Tablet you must be a subscriber of the Amazon ecosystem. What I mean by that is you must be a Prime Member, a kindle monthly subscriber, purchase additional channels via Amazon Prime Video, a Echo owner, a Blink Security owner, … Again to get the FULL BENEFIT. Of course you can enjoy this tablet without those features, but with them you have a seamless platform. When I connected it "knew me", all my content was made immediately available, it was ready to use in a few minutes, Alexa working with the tablet, my blink security system viewing working, all working within minutes. As for the tablet it is light weight, very snappy, the audio decently loud enough, Amazon' silk browser is pretty smooth. You can get YouTube on this device as well as Apple TV. The movie quality is excellent. Comes with HBOMAX (I am a subscriber) heck even comes with MS Office. I was able to log in ang get my OneNote up and running. Battery life is great like 8-10 hours with decent usage. I am impressed with just how "tight" the operating system is. Like everything I need is at my finger tips, no waste. No constant scrolling or getting lost. It has exactly what I need, where as some tablets have lots of useless apps. I purchased a refurbished HD 8 Plus thinking that if it sucked then I didn't pay too much. I would have gladly paid full price. I own a iPad and it is a great tablet, but I am not part of the Apple ecosystem. To conclude, I think the Amazon Fire has come a long way, for the price you can't really beat it. If you are all things Amazon as I described above, it is a no brainer if you are in the market for a tablet or something bigger than a phone ( I am not as young as I use to be so looking at things on my phone strains my eyes) it is a great option. The price is right as well. If your a power user and need to connect to every thing, and need great video recording and booming sound and all that, then look else where. However, if you need a mid size content provider that will not break your budget, then this just might be the tablet for you. ... show more

  • Happy with purchase
Style: Fire HD 8 Plus Digital Storage Capacity: 64 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Slate
I got this because the newer kindle I had was too small and awkward in my hands. This is easier to hold and my fingers don’t take up screen space. It’s very lightweight while still being substantial. I bought it for travel so I could read and watch shows, but I also use it at home to watch shows while I’m cooking or cleaning. The size makes it very portable and it doesn’t take up counter space. Shows and books are clear and crisp. It’s also easy to adjust settings. It does come with some bloat but that doesn’t bother me too much because I’m not using many additional apps. Good battery life, too. This is a good purchase for basic use, not for gamers or preschoolers. I’m happy with my purchase and recommend this product. ... show more

  • Great basic tablet, especially as a cheap "disposable" tablet for random content consumption.
Style: Fire HD 8 Plus Digital Storage Capacity: 32 GB Offer Type: Lockscreen Ad-Supported Color: Slate
I did not want to spend a lot of money on a tablet. Anything I would need a tablet for, I can use my phone for instead, and if the phone screen isn't big enough, then I can use my computer. But there are certainly a few things here and there where it would come in handy. I wanted something cheap, where I wouldn't feel bad if I only use it once or twice per week. It is very handy when used almost as a mini television. I can set it up outside while working in the yard and watch a sports game. It has great WiFi range, a loud speaker, and long battery life (even while being used). All great things when using it to watch TV/Movies. I was disappointed that it does not have GPS. It would have been super handy to use the tablet for GPS in the car so I could keep my phone free for other uses. Lastly, while the Amazon store is decent, being limited to only that store really limits the tablet's usefulness overall. My preferred browser, Firefox, was actually on the Amazon store in the past, but then they removed it for some reason. Unacceptable. Thankfully it's possible to manually install the Google Play Store on the tablet, after which you are able to download and use basically any Android app. It allowed me to use Firefox again. While the tablet does not block you from doing this, I can't help wonder what Amazon's position on this is. I fear that one day there will be an update for the tablet and all of a sudden the Google Play Store (and apps from the store) won't work anymore. I guess only time will tell. For now, it's a fantastic deal for a functional tablet. ... show more
