I was so happy to find this CeraVe Healing Ointment | 12 Ounce | Cracked Skin Repair Skin Protectant with Petrolatum Ceramides available through Amazon Pantry. I love that this comes with a tamper-proof seal in place. The consistency of this is about like a salve, Vaseline, or Vick's. I have been applying it to my crazily dry feet at night. I can't wear socks to bed, so I put this on and then wear plastic bags LOOSLY over my feet for as long as I can stand to, usually about an hour; sometimes less, sometimes more because I fall asleep with them there. This helps the moisturizing benefit get into my skin and helps me sleep so much better than with my otherwise super dry feet rubbing against the sheets. Seriously, this lovely stuff keeps me sane. I guess I'm sort of a CeraVe geek, as I use their facial wash, moisturizing lotion with sunscreen and this healing ointment. They always have such good and nourishing ingredients, and this healing ointment is no exception. According to them, it has three essential ceramides (1, 3, 6-II) that help restore and maintain your skin's natural protective barrier. It is "greasy" at first, but give it a chance (and some time) and it will sink into your skin and make it incredibly soft. I use it on my heals, elbows, cuticles, hands and anywhere that needs some softening and extra moisturizing. I also use it under my eyes at night, as I find that my nightly moisturizer was great for my face, but not enough under my eyes, and I LOVE how it is working under my eyes. With all the hand-washing that I do, my hands are a total mess. I decided to try this product to see if it would help my horrible hands. It did. it took about two nights of putting it on and rubbing it in before my hand started to heal. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who has rough and red hands that sting when you wash them. This is amazing. I purchase this for my lips, hands and feet. I used to use vasilene for those spots since they are so dry my regular cream doesn't work as well. I work in the medical field so I wash and sanitize my hands constantly. When I rub this on my dry, craxked, burning hands all I feel is relief. It is not as greasy as vasilene but there is a greasy feel for a bit until it adsorbs but it doesn't bother me at all it just heals my skin. ... show more

Best product for dry, irritated hands ever. For so many years I struggled with those painful cracks on my fingers every Winter. I tried (threw out) so many products until a friend of mine let me try hers. At first I didn't care for it as it felt kinda greasy.
