I've thought about adjustable dumbells for a while, as the space we have is limited for individual ones, even on a rack. This set by Centr is certainly a nice one. I don't have experience with other adjustable sets, so I can't do a comparison, but I have to say this one is easy. There are 4 plates on each side of the handle. Depending on what you set the weight to, dictates which of the plates get picked up. This is all done by powerful magnets set in between the plates. This seems a much easier system them some kind of mechanical protrusion where you may have to jiggle the handle a bit to get everything to align. Thisnis very smooth to select. Each side of the handle has a small window for the amount of weight you're selecting (one in pounds, the other in kg). This is a nice inclusive feature. The 3 month membership to Centr is also a nice addition. This app has numerous workout routines and even nutrition advice, which is a welcomed addition. Of course it's a good selling point for the app itself, if you like and use it, to then subscribe. But this is hardly a new business model. All in all this is a great dumbell that is easy to use, adjust, and store within its self contained base. I'm very happy with it. ... show more

I've seen these around for a while (you've probably seen similar from a different company on commercials, ad nauseum) so figured it was time to see what they were all about. Well, you just twist the handle and the weight shows through on a window and you pick it up, and that's the amount of weight you have. Kinda like magic, but heavier and with sweat. No doubt a very good quality, but the price is, shall we say, rather up there. Do you really need to spend this much on a set of dumbbells to get in shape? Obviously not. Is this a really cool addition to your gym, and a really quick and convenient method for changing pounds. Obviously it is. In the final analysis, the cost-benefit ratio is up to you, and my final rating will reflect more on the price, rather than the quality of the product, IE: quality excellent, but price very high. This is such a cool weight. I have a tiny e excise area and not enough room for a whole rack of dumbells. This is literally a whole rack in the space of one. They're very nicely made and sturdy. The plates set down in a magnetic tray. You lower the handle into the notches on the plates, then turn the handle until you reach the desired weight. There is an indicator that tells you what weight you're at. Then you just lift up and only the weight you want stays on the handle, the rest stay on the base. My only regret is that I don't have two, so I can work both arms at the same time. ... show more

This is the second brand of adjustable weights I've tried. Certainly pricey, but $500 for a set of dumbbells from 5-50lbs is less than $1 per lb if you're going to buy dumbbell sets separately. Preferable for small spaces. The Centre dumbbell set seems higher quality than my old ones, smoothly interlocking and changing easily. It looks sleek and I like that both kg and lb are displayed. If you're serious about lifting in your home, and saving space and money, but not skimping on quality, these should be good for a while. I've had a couple types of adjustable weights. One you have to screw the plates on 2.5 lbs at a time, and another with plates and a cinch. This is such an upgrade! It's like dial-a-weight and it's so much easier. It's so nice. I didn't use the app but I might. Overall, I like this one a lot.
