I will talk about the actual product in a second but first, what is up with the man, baby, and dog picture? Sure, it is normal for you to let your dog lick your face and it isn’t even actually doing it in the picture but given that the caption says “best gifts for babies, pets, and your lover” makes the picture have a new meaning. Maybe it is just me. I spent several minutes laughing about that. Okay, now on to the product. People keep mentioning that they are smaller than they seem. I think it may be intentional to use metric measurements even though it says it is a US product to help them appear to be larger than they are. These are not meant to be for lining your closets. You can get cedar planks for lining your closest but these are more for specific clothing items, shoes, or small boxes. They are about 4 inches by 1.5 inches. That is actually quite big for what their intended use. The scent isn’t going to be super strong but there are ways to amplify it. You can use a cedar oil or sand them slightly. The smaller the space they are in and the longer they are left in it the more scent is thrown. I have both chronic sinus problems and I had covid which makes smelling things very difficult but I can smell these. To compare I have a cedar plank wall in my toilet room (which is literally just a small 4x6 foot room with a toilet and a door with the sink outside it) as both an accent wall and a long working air freshener and it took me 3 days to be able to smell it without it being right under my nose but it is now at its peak. I was able to smell these just as strong in both ways. We bought 5 packs of the 32 planks to place near windows and doors as we live in the tropics and wanted to keep cockroaches out. They are working great. I only took off one star because they aren’t as smooth on the sides as they could be and no one likes a splinter. ... show more

I enjoy the very strong cedar fragrance!!! I will put them in drawers or closets. Where ever need be, no more spots on clothing for the occasional times a moth may get in. Purchased two boxes of 16 plan on sharing will purchase again soon and give out for gifts early Christmas gifts!!!

    • Works well and smells stronger than competitors, but much pricier too.
I took a chance on this cedar set after having already tried a lower price set first. The other set had a similar if not identical number of pieces and at the time was listed around half the price, at 12.99 or so. Having only used lavender sachets before I wasn’t sure how scented the product should be, and with a distinct but rather mild cedar smell, I assumed they would be adequate and proceeded to put them around my house in linen storage areas and around drafty windows. It seemed like that cedar had some, but not complete effect at repelling moths (and in my case I was hoping it would work on other bugs as well) so I went to order some more cedar items. On the second round, I decided to try this product instead due to a faster delivery date desired due to an overwhelming fear of creepy crawlers of any kind. At the time of purchase, this set was listed at 24.99 or so. The product arrived promptly, but I was initially frustrated because the product box (not delivery box) was in poor shape. As soon as I started to unload it, however, it became clear this cedar set had a far stronger cedar scent. To be clear, it was not offensive or artificial smelling, and as someone who experiences migraines often triggered by strong smells, this didn’t bother me at all (usually only artificial scents bother me, like air fresheners, candles, some perfumes, etc.). It seems my initial concerns that the squished/poor quality box would mean a lower quality product were unfounded. Keeping in mind I now had twice the cedar, the addition of this product seemed to be a meaningful one and I have seen a greater reduction in (at least the visible *shudders*) bugs around my house. Overall, I’m pleased with the price and feel the product merited the slight extra expense. I bought this set a couple months ago at this point, and even now I’m still hit with a cedar scent every time I open a wardrobe I’ve used these blocks in, compared to the small closet I used the other product in (and much more of it) where the scent is essentially undetectable. A last note in considering this purchase against other products - Other reviewers of cedar have suggested using cedar wood essential oil to “revive” the wood scent instead of sanding the blocks every so often. Initially, I was resistant to that idea and felt the blocks should come scented enough that sanding shouldn’t require supplementation with oil. Now, owning over 100 pieces, I can see how the oil has greater appeal to sanding just in terms of ease of maintenance, so I did cave and buy some (2 small bottles) for about 10 dollars not long ago. Before buying that, I felt the stronger scent and greater staying power really justified this product over the cheaper, less scented, alternative. Looking back, if buying oil will be necessary for maintenance either way, it might be easier to just buy the cheaper set from the start and “refresh” the scent immediately to get a greater effect. I can’t independently validate the efficacy of this strategy, but if I had to do it over, I think I’d at least try that first. Hope this review helps others out there! ... show more

Quality control...I pulled out multiple blocks that would have given me splinters or snagged my clothes if I didn't sand 12 out of 16 of them well first. Expected to be able to use them out of the box, not have to do final sanding myself! Just put them in drawers so unsure of their effectiveness, although to be fair I'm hoping to use them more to reduce a stale scent in clothing than protect the clothing. ... show more
