    • Works best when soaked for 1-2 hours
After soaking these planks for 1-2 hours, placing them on the grill provides a nice oaky flavor. I read a post that said you could also freeze the soaked plank and use it when needed; however, doing this did not provide an adequate oaky transfer to the salmon. Also, I tried cutting the board down a few inches to place it in a stove top grill pan, and that also did not work well. ... show more

    • These are my go to Cedar Planks
While I have tired other cedar planks which are available--I have ordered these before & they are my go-to preference. Length width & thickness meets form fit & function. For my use I will crosscut cut a plank in half and use that half in conjunction with a full length and it perfectly fits a whole fresh Alaskan Sockeye Salmon Filet, perfectly. I always soak the planks for at least an hour before placing on a 450 degree grille. In approximately 18-20 minutes I have a perfectly grilled salmon filet. Grille time may vary slightly depending upon thickness of the filet. Thus far I have had no complaints from my dinner guests. Happy planking & grilling ! ... show more

I used to dread having salmon as it was not one of my favorite things to have. Now, grilling with the cedar planks it has become one of my favorite meals. I found a recipe that calls for fresh ginger, green onions, garlic and sesame oil.

I started grilling with cedar planks that I bought over a year ago. I was finally almost out and decided to replenish my stock. When this new set arrived immediately, I realize it was shorter than the ones that I previously bought. I did have a couple of old ones left and sure enough it’s about an inch shorter. They work well, but I am quite displeased, that the planks are shorter, even though I paid more than I did the first time. ... show more
