Great bottle. I was looking for a lightweight, plastic free bottle to take hiking and backpacking and this bottle is perfect for that. I've even dropped it a few times and it's still holding up well. I got the 68 oz bottle and it's pretty big, usually holds more than enough water for a day hike. Also, I haven't had any issues with the lid; opens pretty easily for me. I see that a lot of bad reviews are from people being disappointed that it doesn't keep their drinks cold; but, as it says in the description, the bottle is NOT insulated, so it is not designed to keep your drinks cold.     • Reliable and good for the cost

Nice and solid. I love this thing. It insultaes well and feels good. May be a bit heavier than some would like when full but works well for me (just consider, this bottle holds a decent volume of water and that entails a certain weight). It's secure, I've had no leaking issues at all. Cleaning can be tricky if you don't have a good brush for cleaning bottles. Metal bottles like this have a minor taste to the water, I don't mind it or notice it but know people who find it off putting. Working great for me though ... show more

Listed dimensions are incorrect. I bought two 68 oz bottles to fit in my cooler. They do not fit. I want to return them. The only problem is there aren't other options. Almost every other half gallon comes insulated, which means it is even bigger. The few others are generally short and very thick, which would not pack efficiently in my cooler (couldn't fit them side by side and they'd take up too much floor space), such that I wouldn't be able to fit the other things I sometime need to fit into my cooler. Similarly if I lay these at an angle on top of other things to get the lid to close, that's not going to let me fit other things well either. If I lay them on the floor and put other things on top, that precludes use, as I have to get my fluids out over and over again while working in the hot sun, and can't unload and repack the cooler every time, especially as my hands aren't always real clean and I don't want to put them all over my lunch things like that. I might have to lean them over on my lunch, which may crush things, as the least bad option. I found one bottle that looks like it might fit if the measurements are correct, but it's far more ridiculously priced even compared to this expensive product. Another possibility is getting four quart-size bottles, but that takes up a lot more room than two half-gallons, plus it would make mixing my fluids more complicated (have to split potassium pills into two bottles), and makes packing and cleaning more work. Considering the false information about the height and width, I suspect that the volume may be wrong as well. I'm quite upset that the height and width are different than listed, and also that there don't seem to be other good options. Why can't they make them squarish like juice bottles? I'm just trying to stop reusing old juice bottles because I hear it's bad for health, but nobody makes a steel juice bottle equivalent. That would pack into things so much better. Other than the false size, the bottles appear to be good quality. The picture says 10.63" height to the top of the extended loop, and 4.33" wide at the base. Actual dimensions are 4" base and 12.5" to the top of the loop or 11,5/16" to the top of the cap. ... show more

The container is made of 18/8 stainless steel. It's important to know that it's an ideal container, like glass. to store olive oil or any vegetable oil. Oil should not be stored in plastic containers due to oils being natural solvents that act on petroleum based plastics. Over time the oil breaks down the plastic so storing in stainless steel or tinted glass is best. The large container of good quality olive oil that you buy generally comes in darkened plastic, along with your vegetable oils in the clear plastic container. I was looking for a lightweight, single walled stainless steel water bottle. This fit the bill, so I gave it a try. I like the smaller size (17 oz) for portability and packability. It's easy to clean and the lid is secure, water-tight, and easy to open and close. All in all, a good, simple bottle!
