    • Useful, but takes a bit of a knack
Overally, I'm glad I bought this thing. The trowel tool is great for removing caulk from 90 degree corners between two surfaces. The rubber tips can produce a *very* fine bead, but I still had to clean it up a bit with my fingers. The rubber piece was installed upside down, which confused me for a few minutes. Look out for that. The main limitation is that even the other scraping tools cannot get into corners where three surfaces come together. Also, if you're removing caulk with the trowel, be *very* careful the metal doesn't touch the tile or porcelain. It will scratch it. ... show more

Works pretty well, only giving 4 stars because I feel like it should include a case or something for all of the silicon bits. It has sturdy construction I would recommend buying this product since it’s metal and easy to clean. I imagine a plastic version would be a pain in the rear to clean all of the caulking/silicon off of. ... show more

If you plan on doing any caulking, this tool is a must have. It is steel and will last for years and made removing the old caulking from my tub and shower sooo much easier. Easiest 5 star rating I have ever given.

    • Didn't know such a thing existed
As an infrequent caulker, I had no idea a tool like this existed. I learned long ago that I am completely inept at generating a good bead of caulk and smoothing appropriately. I am perfectly capable of most DIY projects but this one task has alluded me. This tool enables a better experience. It's not magic but the very nature of it ensures a more consistent bead that doesn't look like it was done by a blind monkey (i.e. me). This is metal and is of solid construction. The tips are silicone and I appreciate the variety for different applications. The one add-on that would be a real bonus is something that kept the pieces together -- i.e. a small plastic or even cheap fabric case. I can pretty much guarantee that the tips are going to run away before long but perhaps that's the goal. I did not verify that replacements are available. The rest of the functions of this tool, (e.g. grout removal) are a bonus. Again, I primarily purchased for the caulk smoothing function. All in all, it's easily worth the price and would recommend. If they add a 'keeper', it's a 5 star product. Disclosure: I did receive this for free as part of the Vine program but I review based on the suggested retail price.     • Practiced a section with the tool and it was easy
There were some projects I did not want to tackle because of caulk. But with this tool, I'm not sp timid about these project anymore! I recently put in some new tile flooring in the bathroom and left some baseboard trims uncaulked and unpainted. Because it was such a pain to get a clean line. Although I did notnuse this to remove existing caulk, but I did use this tool to test a section of the baseboard. The tool is sharp and can scrape off uneven section as I practiced. This is so much easier to use now that I got a hang of it. I just have to apply small beads and run this across the beads to let the tool do all the work. Next project may be to replace all the caulking on the baseboard around the house! ... show more

Removing old caulk is almost always a royal pain. Over the years, I have tried many different tools, chemicals, and methods; but had never found anything better than the old scraper, utility knife, and 5-in-one painters' tool combination -- until now. This tool works extremely well for removing old caulking from pretty much anywhere you might need to do so. The fixed double-pointed cutting end cuts a perfect "V" on both the push and pull -- allowing one to cut caulking out of an inside corner cleanly to both the wall and fixture (or wall and wall, wall and floor, etc.). Most tools made to do this task don't cut well, deform easily, and often leave a big mess. For removing caulking or grout from recessed spaces, there is a fold-out hook that does the job very well. The one I received had a slight burr on the tip of the hook, but that was easily removed with a file (against the flat side) -- leaving a nice sharp digging tool. Those two blades are at the same end of the tool. At the opposite end of the tool, there's a fixed flat, squared scraper that will help with any old stuff (caulk, paint, etc.) stuck to flat surfaces and outside corners. If necessary, this blade could also be used to gently pry an old sink -- or other fixture -- off of a counter or away from a wall. There is also a fold-out piece that serves as a holder for the included rubber blades. The rubber blades each have a different radius for smoothing new caulk into corners, and are narrow enough to get into tight corners easily -- and since this part folds, the handle can be folded slightly to get into even tighter spaces. I have almost always just used a finger for this part of the job; but the rubber blades make such clean, consistent lines, that it's hard to justify not using them. The entire tool is well made, and of nice sturdy steel. So far, each part does its particular job very effectively -- with no noticeable wobble, slop, or play. I get the impression that this tool will last a very long time; and if it doesn't, I would get another just like it anyway. ... show more
