Am I ever glad that this product is out there. The tiny clip that holds the computer in place broke after about ten years and I knew for sure I would have to lay out some cash for a whole new outfit. I'm using Map My Ride app to record the whole ride but still use my computer on my bike stem to see my speed and mileage- and it still worked. Found and ordered this new kit and I'm back in business! I have two Wireless II with cadence units. The newest acquisition is the one that broke. This is a common problem as this is a "live" hinge that breaks from repeated use. I remove mine after every ride to record the data in a spreadsheet. Overall design is poor but.... if you need one, there is little option. At least the price is decent! My solution while I waited for the replacement was to cut a small portion of a left over piece of cork handle bar tape and placed it under the broken lever. In my case, the part had not broken off, just broken enough to not hold the head in place. This worked great as it supported the broken piece and provided the needed "spring" to hold the head in place. You may want to consider doing the same with the new part too! Reinforcing the lever can't hurt, but it might make the removal harder than it is already. The featured "bump" that holds the head in place has a sharp ramp and edge. Rounding the edge might help in removal and installation. I am surprised Cat Eye has not addressed this design flaw! Having said that, the product is good. ... show more

    • Better than Previous Generations of Cateye Mounts
Color: Bracket Band
I recently upgraded my cyclometer and was able to compare an older generation to the most recent version of the Cateye mount. It is a great improvement compared with previous generations. The bracket and the band are separate, so you can can rotate the mount 90 degrees; for either mounting on the bar or stem. A screw knob is used to tighten the band, which makes it easier adjust and cut the band cleanly. It also allows easy removal and re-installation. The friction tape, which you apply yourself, keeps the mount from rotating about the bar. However, the band doesn't handle non-cylindrical surface well, but to my knowledge no other band does any better. I have a road bar that curves from the clamp to the flat section of the bar. It can't be mounted level without using a neoprene shim along the side closer to the flat section of the bar. An alternative would be to mount it on the stem, but I don't like the viewing angle on the stem. The friction tape can migrate a bit under load, but you can slide it back into place if you need to. ... show more

    • I'm Replacing my original one

The big reason why I'm giving this only a 3 star rating is because I'm replacing the one that originally came with my Cateye computer. This does not seem to hold up so well in the cold weather. Don't use it too much and it doesn't get that much abuse (I don't crash my bike that much), but the bracket snapped in half during some cold weather. I know that it's plastic, I know that this type of plastic can be brittle, but really? If it's meant to be on a bike that's supposed to be taken outside wouldn't they account for most conditions? At least make the bracket that can deal with cold just above the freezing mark, before it snaps in half! Just glad that I wasn't riding when it happened or I'd be replacing the computer too! ... show more

Just the basic plastic mount. Useful if you lost the original. I did. I like this better since it's easy to switch from bike to bike.

Bought this because I lost the retaining nut that holds the bracket to my handlebars. I tried buying the nut at a hardware store, but its a special threading apparently. For $6, it isn't bad value considering the computer is typically $40-50. You get both the nut and the bracket. The only other part you need would be the computer holding bracket sold separate. I think Cateye sells a complete rebuild kit for under $20. Overall, fixed my computer and for the price, it was worth the purchase. ... show more

CatEye makes the Padrone wireless bike computer. And it is my favorite. This extra mount makes it possible to switch the computer to a second bike. Nice.
