  • Easy to use and works great
This silver brush plating device is easy to use. Practice on something first before plating what you bought it for. If you press too hard it leaves dark spots that you will need to polish out. Once you get the hang of it (couple of minutes) you are good to go. I plated a trumpet mouthpiece and it turned out awesome! I used a solver jewelry polishing cloth to shine it up. I wouldn't recommend plating something large and flat. Use a small amount of the solution at a time because you will waste a lot if you pout too much out. Do not pour back into the bottle of good solution when you are done. ... show more

  • Amazing
Works in minutes after opening the box. Reliable and not fussy. Basic alcohol.cleaning is all it took to prep the metal. You can keep adding layers. Good for touch ups or anything that needs a decorative silver layer.

  • It Really Works
It really does work. I was skeptical, but I got good results with it, and I'm not very handy. I am encouraged to try the gold plate now.

  • Absolutely Thrilled!
First, I received my order a week QUICKER than originally estimated! So A++++++++++! I damaged my silver-plated keys on my clarinet. It was my fault that I used cerrated pliers to make a frustrated key adjustment (certainly not recommended). I used a high grit sandpaper (I think it was 800 or higher) to smooth the key of the scratches I made, but in doing so, exposed the copper plating underneath that easily gets discolored. Sending the instrument out for replating can be a very expensive proposition especially since most do a full dip plating requiring the removal of the pads. I saw Caswell plating kits mentioned on a clarinet discussion forum and decided to give it a try. I'm blown away! You'll see that I have 3 pictures. The first one shows the copper plating exposed below the silver plating. I cleaned the key using Dawn dishsoap per the instructions. The second pic shows the first application before buffing. Very pleased for the color blending even if that was all that it would do. The third pic is another application and more buffing. The camera still shows a few scratches, but to the eye it's not noticable. I'm very pleased! I've essentially restored the key plating on my instrument! I'll also be getting the gold kit to restore the gold posts that wore away by using a polishing cloth that seemed to be too abrasive. ... show more

  • Sort of works
Does not leave item looking like silver without a LOT of polishing and then doesn't look quite right. Sort of whitish results

  • Works great for brass mouthpieces
See my photos of before and after. I just cleaned the mouthpiece really well with soap and some 000 steel wool around the shank and used the buffing wheel on my Dremel to shine it up and polish it some of the surface scratches. The unit plates quickly and I have enough solution left to do several more. ... show more

  • Works great!
I silver plated a raw brass tuba mouthpiece, and this product works great and looks terrific. I cleaned and polished the piece with 0000 steel wool, and then wiped with acetone, being very careful not to touch with fingers after cleaning. Works immediately.

  • Plating never been easier
Had some brass drawer pulls we wanted silver.Paint wears off and is thick for small lettering(coca cola) Bought the kit and didn’t work well at first. Cleaned with acetone and started working. We used the silver and it goes on tarnished then you polish to a high luster. The only thing the wand connects kind of janky so you have to expand the banana plug to make it hold. The cotton I just kept on with the rubber band kind of like a corn broom fashion.Over all pleased just have to have clean metal ... show more
