I’ve been needing a new pillow for some time. I am a side and stomach sleeper and lean more towards pillows that go flat - something a more firm pillow usually provides. Currently I use a tempurpedic pillow and really disliking it. The Casper Down didn’t seem like something I’d want. Down pillows flatten quickly and I don’t get the support I need. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the pillow. It came inside a box, not the tube package i’m used to, and was sealed in a rolled up plastic. After fluffing it up the pillow is now in the normal size you’d expect. PROS: - It’s LIGHT. Air light. Very little weight to it - It feels airy and cloud-like - The material is decently supported - Works great if you bunch your pillow up with your arms - Fluffing it up takes little effort - Material stays cool (for the most part) CONS: - I wish it had more support but it’s a personal preference - The material isn’t as soft as I’d hoped without the pillow case - Material makes a little crunch sound. Maybe this gets better after a wash of some use? Overall this is a very comfortable pillow and i’m enjoying it so far. I would recommend it if you’re a stomach sleeper, over many others. If you’re a side sleeper and need support to dodge neck cramps, this may not be the best for you unless you another pillow for some support when needed. ... show more

    • Comfortable and durable but smell is intolerable

I’m not sure that a five-star pillow exists in the world. Great pillows are hard to find. I thought I had found a great pillow in this one but 6 months into using it nightly, I’m disappointed to say it is not. As others have noted, it’s very soft and not super filled. I’m ok with both of those traits. The fill seems to be high quality so the shape of the pillow easily bounces back and feels full with a little fluffing. My problem with this pillow is the smell. I’m someone who sweats more then most at night but that’s never caused my pillows to smell like these do. I have cared for them per the directions on the label but over time the smell has gotten so strong that our whole bedroom has been permeated with it. The best way I can describe the smell is as if someone left a full bag of frito’s chips open in a hot, sunny room. Cleaning per the instructions on the label seems to only make the smell worse. Otherwise, the comfort, softness, and durability have been top notch. But the smell is so bad none of the other positive qualities matter unfortunately. ... show more

I love the regular Casper pillow. The down one is really soft, but I was really disappointed to see that it was really poorly filled. Even after fluffing the pillow, it still looks pretty thin and collapses within minutes. I expected a bit more from Casper based on my experience with their sheets.

    • Misconceptions about sleeping cool

I sleep like a demon, I mean my head gets so hot I can’t take it. This pillow sleeps warm, not hot. However, it reaches a warm temp and stays there, which isn’t hot, and there is no such thing as a cool pillow, or cooling pillow. All of that is consumer misdirection. I know this because I’ve tried 30 or so “cooling” pillows. From every brand, multiple tempurpedic cooling gel bs pillows that get so hot they’re unbearable, the harmony one from purple, the original purple one, seriously every cooling pillow there is. They are all bs. They get hot, super hot. Trap heat. Blast it back to your head. This doesn’t. It’s warm, that’s it. I will take warm comfort over hot and hard, that’s what she said, any day. ... show more

    • Perfect pillow, but no support for neck

This pillow is perfectly comfortable. If you are like me where you love to sink in a pillow then this is the one and it is not a spongey like pillow like most pillows you find in stores. The pillow has the perfect softness, no hardness when your head sinks in and it is not shallow enough where you could feel the surface of your bed. Also, the pillow has feathers, which is nice for not having to worry about the pillow getting hot. I returned the pillow, because I have a Casauluna down alternative pillow (has polyester inside, but no temperature issues) from Target, which supports my neck and will not ruin my neck and spine over time. That pillow beats this one. With this pillow, you also have the responsibility of having the fluff the pillow with your hands every day or week. This pillow is also not worth the money. I spent $215 altogether for two of these and it is way too expensive for a pillow that is lightweight and not "luxurious". ... show more

I was hoping the thickness would be better. It wasn’t as supportive as I had hoped, especially for how costly it is. I was surprised how squishy it was, not what I was expecting. It is a nice quality pillow though.

The pillow was nicely packaged in plastic inside a sturdy box. It was flat from being rolled up in the box but instantly fluffed up nicely as described in the instructions. It had absolutely no smell and I could see that it was very well made. I wanted a pillow that was both soft and supportive and the Caspar is that. I sleep on my back and side. I do fluff it most days, depending on how I slept on it. I had been using an Avocado Green Pillow, which is very hard and stays too convex, pushing my neck out of alignment. Even though I ended up taking out a lot of the filling (a messy process), a little bit each night to try to make it more comfortable, that didn't help. I was waking up with a stiff neck every night. No more with the Caspar. Keep in mind that I have a slim build (5'11" 150). So those who do not find this pillow comfortable might need one that is firmer, but I am very happy with this purchase. It's great that it is easily washable, so I don't even need to use a pillow protector. I have found those often change the feel of the pillow and this Caspar feels great as is. ... show more
