My 11 yr old is an avid gum chewer so I ordered this for him for Christmas. The product arrived unscathed, it's very nice quality. The glass globe is thin and could break if handled rough but i'd expect most globes are about the same thickness. It does come with an instruction sheet and diagram of the parts which is useful. It's base is very solid and heavy and it's bright red in color. It was put to use immediately and though the gum we ordered was smaller in diameter then the typical size the machine works just fine. The crank is a bit hard to turn with it being so new, but it's not a problem for my kid. I would, with how it works and all, say that this would be a machine for 10+ years old, or with supervision with younger kids. Filling the machine isn't as easy for younger children and takes a delicate hand to remove the top. All and all I can see this product lasting near a lifetime if the components are as well put together as I think. It's a solid unit and absolutely worth the price. If I com across problems in the future i'll amend my review.

My kids LOVE this thing, and so do I. I haven’t tried the trick to getting a “free spin” but it’s worked fine with quarters. (My kids earn quarters with little chores–I’m going to hold off on letting them know this thing would take pennies...) Anyway, the reviews are true—the glass is pretty thin. Mine broke, but it was totally my fault. I was trying to get the quarters out of the bottom, but was having trouble because the hole is a great size for quarters (which we’ve just established was all that was in there) to slide past. So, being the creative thinker that I am, I decided to, duh, shake the machine. I channeled a bit too much of my inner Lenny apparently because the glass broke. On the bright side, it didn’t shatter. A piece (the size of about TWO quarters) broke off cleanly. I have yet to call about a replacement piece, but it sounds like they’re just as expensive as the machine. So for now, I’m using some good ol’ packing tape. Kids don’t seem to mind—they just want what they came for.

This machine is so cute. It's very sturdy, works great so far and is a really nice size. I highly recommend this gumball machine. It took one and 1/2 yellow cartons of 20oz double bubble gumballs, to fill it up. Drops 2 gumballs per coin that equal 1 large size gumball.

The media could not be loaded. This is a really great and durable gumball machine. In fact, my kids decided to take it apart to see how it works (without, of course, paying attention to the order in which they took the internal elements apart), but we were able to quickly and easily reassemble it. One important note - it is a bank and does not work unless you put a coin into the slot to take a gumball. It accepts various coins (nickels, dimes, pennies, etc.) but won't work without a coin. That said - we are really happy with this nice, sturdy gumball machine - it isn't made of plastic and I don't expect it will easily break.

Perfect fun potty training treats! My little guy is potty training and is treat-motivated so I thought this would be a fun way to add some fun to the delivery of treats. This is much better quality than I was expecting based on the reviews saying the glass broke easily. Mine seems very sturdy. I was a little careful in putting the M&Ms in just in case but I wonder if the manufacturing of the glass produces some “duds” with thin spots in the glass or something because ours seems great. I changed the size of the dispensing so only 1 M&M comes out at a time. We used M&Ms larger in size - Brownie and Pretzel M&Ms. My little guy thinks it’s super fun to get his own, which he can do himself. It’s already working - he was excited to get on the toilet this morning! Great quality that I’m looking forward to keeping around once we’re done with potty training.

We've been growing tired of our kids asking us for candy for a long time. Recently they begin to earn their own money for doing various tasks over the summer. It dawned on me that we could put all of our loose candy in a candy dispensing machine and let them use their own money to buy candy if they want it. So, that's exactly what we decided to do with this little machine. There are a couple downsides to this machine, which I knew before buying it, so I haven't detracted any stars for them, but they are worth mentioning: 1. The globe part is real glass, so if you have little kids this is something to be aware of as they can break it. 2. There is no way to set the price of the candy dispensed. For example, I wanted to charge my kids a 25 cent quarter for one candy dispense, but there is no way to set that. Basically, you can either have it give candy away for free or you can charge money for candy and it will accept any coin you put in. The machine is easy enough to use, my 5 and 6 year olds can use it by themselves. We've told them that they could break the machine if they don't use it correctly, so make sure to only put the coins in that we tell them to and that seems to have solved the issue with setting the price for the candy. All in all, this is a great little home candy dispenser, we're quite pleased with it and glad that we don't have to be the candy jar bouncer any longer.

Love this. A true classic. Working gum ball machine made of glass and metal. We actually put m&m’s in it, which works great. We love that if works with or without the use of quarters.

I am sure this machine would have been great as a bubble gum ball dispenser and a coin bank, but I converted it to a fish bowl. My fish has made himself an adorable bubble nest (sign of being healthy and happy) and his bowl fits in with the room decor. It makes a really cute fish tank.
